Hello everyone, I'm new to these boards. I did a search but I couldn't find any relevant info, maybe I didn't look hard enough Anyway, I recently bought a '88 GXL and I think I need to replace the springs and struts/shocks because anytime I go through a turn, the car starts vibrating a lot and once Im out it is stable again. It does feel like the shocks are bad when I'm going straight because it keeps moving up and down.

My question is this: The car has the adjustable suspension, no ABS so can I buy regular pieces or do I need to buy the adjustables? I really don't think I would be adjusting the suspension at all. Besides, the price for OEM adjustables is ridiculous.

I used to have a 1st gen a few years ago, and I totally love these cars so I want to make my new (to me) baby handle as well as she can. Thanks.

i'm having the same problem in my ride. i KNOW for a fact that i got to change my sturts and shocks when i get the chance(and Money). because i know my shocks and struts are SHOT. in my car it's really LOUD when it starts to shutter/vibrate untill i get stable after making usuualy a right turn. (i have yet to make a steap left turn!). but in my case, is that it won't make the noise unless i run over lane divider bumb. this is an issue we both have to figure out.

Another thing you might want to do is check your front wheel bearings. I've got money on them needing adjustment - it may or may not cure the vibration, but it's worth the half an hour it takes.

Well I checked and the bearings were a little loose, also the bolts that hold the hub to the struts were loose too. Tightened everything up and it definately feels better. The struts are leaking badly though.

I still need to know if I can replace the adjustable pieces with non adjustable dampers. Can anyone tell me?
