Anybody use the G2 paint on stuff? Is it worth the $40? The only advantage I see is that you dont have to mask anything off and they provide brake cleaner for you. Not worth that kind of cashbut maybe there is something I am missing.
Also can you buy any high temp paint or does it have to be specifically for calipers?

 

I am using plain old Testors spray paint from the hobby shop. So far it holds up great to heat and wheel cleaner. LOTS of different colors available.

 

I used Ford Red High Temp Engine paint from my local Pepboys. Its worked great and looks great. The can cost me $4. I say screw the expensive stuff.

 

this is what i figured. however alot of sites seem to recommend that G2 stuff. I might try the testors myself seeing as I don't like the color choices I have seen online yet.
With the Testor paint, did you have to use a primier?

 

Nope. I cleaned the calipers thoroughly with brake cleaner and then squirted paint on them. Simple.

 

The Big advantage to CALIPER PAINT vs Engine Enamel is that Brake Fluid will not damage the Caliper Paint, Plastikote makes a caliper paint in a spray can that sells for less than $10 at Pep Boys, Kragen, CarQuest etc. I have no experience w/ the Testors product as a caliper paint so can not comment on how well it stands up to heat &/or brake fluid.

PS G-2 Caliper Paint is WAY overpriced.

 

I haven't had brake fluid anywhere on my Testors paint yet, but I bet that's true. I always bleed with a hose anyway.

 

it seems almost all the painted brake calipers i see look a hell of alot more dusty than the stock ones do. anyone know why? btw ricers who paint their brake drums bright green should die. besides theyr ust showing off the fact that they have shitty brakes. had to say that

 

LMAO i see the brake drum thing everyday and it makes me want to strange them.

 

Prep of the surface is huge for a good turnout. Wire wheel and lots of brake cleaner prior to painting. Make sure temps are above 60* when painting and paint can is in a warm place (ie dashboard of your car in the sun) vs. cold can from the shade in your garage.
