Front Brake Caliper Question.

I want to know where the pad spring goes back in on a single piston caliper. I looked at the FSM and it shows the spring, but doesn't say where to put it. I had brake pads installed about 3 months ago and for the last few weeks I have noticed a squeeling when I brake and also a ticking sound when I drive. I took my rim off today and that pad spring had come unlodged and wedged between the caliper and the rotor. No damage but I took it out and can't find where it goes back on.

There might be some holes in the backing plate (look along the edge after you flip the caliper open). If the spring is a V shape, it probably goes there. It is intended to spread the pads apart.
