FD rear brake upgrade - worth it?

I'm planning to use my car for HPDE and maybe some time attack events. I'm wondering if the rear brake upgrade(99spec or Racing Brake) will be worth it. Or should I just get Stoptechs for the front and leave the stockers for the rear? Do the stock rears fade at all out on the the track even with proper pads?

Thanks in advance.

If you're just starting off or even intermediate, stock brakes w/ proper pads and fluid will be fine. Even big brakes will fade with the wrong pads.

StopTechs are a nice step up because they will work with the stock MC and rears and are quite adequete. That's what I use.

Later on, if you feel you need the rear upgrade, you can always have the ST front caliper pistons changed to larger to match and/or add the 929 MC

No need to break the bank right off the bat. With most other front kits, you're going to need the 929 MC, rears, or both.

Thanks, ptrhahn. Yup, I know the pads are extremely important. I'll be running proper race pads w/ ATE blue for sure when I'm out on the track. I've got about three track days under my belt, so I'm still a noob So I guess ST fronts will do for now.

Have you been to VIR with your setup? How do you like it?

StopTech makes a great product. Do compare prices to the full front and rear RacingBrake kit before making your decision. last I checked, pricing on the StopTechs increased quite a bit.

I'm pretty sure you can't just "change the pistons". The bores are machined into the calipers. It would require a new caliper.

PM Rishie. He's selling the 4-wheel RB BBK for GB price still.

Thanks. I probably will have to save up for a couple months before I can afford a BBK but I guess I'll just e-mail Rishie and get a price quote.
