Thanks
The tech over at Fikse has the stoptech template and once I provided my serial numbers he told that there would be a 1mm overlap running that combo.

I just measured the gap with a stack of feeler gauges, and there is actually about 8mm of clearance between the RB caliper and the backside of my Fikse spokes. Keep in mind I'm running the rotors that require some grinding of the spindle, the updated rotors might change the clearance a bit. Still, 8mm is a lot of room.

Brake buyers,

Has anyone with the revised kit (with the serial numbers ending in 'A' on the caliper bracket and rotor hat) installed yet? I ask because I'm seeing an offset between the caliper and rotor centerlines on my car. It's subtle; you might not notice it as the rotor will still turn. But when viewed above there is clearly a difference between the clearances on the inboard and outboard side. I've measured it with a slide caliper:

Outboard rotor-face-to-channel: 0.040"
Inboard rotor-face-to-channel: 0.120"

Here's a few pics:

Outboard:

Inborad:

Both pictures are taken from about the same distance away. In both you're looking down the face of the rotor at the caliper body.

The guys at Racing Brake have been very helpful looking into this, but as of yet we don't know if it's an issue with my car (a 1994 R2) or the kit. Another measurement that is important: the offset of the rotor hats are 1.605" as measured from the inside face of the hat to the inside face of the rotor mounting tabs.

So I'm hoping that some people with the revised kit can mount these up in the next day or so and let me know if they see the same thing, or if it's just me.

FWIW, the rear kit went on perfectly without any issues. Just make sure you back that piston ALL the way in. I even used the pad shims which should help cut down any squeaking.

Thanks,

-ch

Thumbs up

Some more pics

In this last one you can see my fubar'ed catback heat shield. I ordered a new one from Ray and just installed it. You can also see the RE toe links and trailing arms, as well as a superpro poly bushing in the upper control arm.

A couple more:

In this pic you can see the upper part of the spindle that I had to grind down. I used feeler gauges to ensure at least 2mm clearance.

A top view, you can see the provided washers on the bolt that mounts the caliper bracket to the spindle.

Here you can see the superpro poly bushings as well as the new ball joint dust boot, new steering rack boot, and the tanabe coilover.

Looking good Rich. Perhaps you should snap a picture with the FM5s on so we can see how they clear.

I should also note that the kit cleared both my road wheels (SSR GT7s) and my race wheels (CCW 18x10") with ease. The CCW was the closer of the two, but there was at least 0.75" of clearance between the caliper and the wheel spokes.

Still hoping for some install info from the 'A-spec' folks!

I'll try to get mine on this weekend. The UPS driver apparently didn't make much of an effort to find my address yesterday, and I need to go pick it up at the UPS facility.

Can somebody who has already installed the system please produce the Clearance data for it. Meaning, the wheel fitment chart?

If you download stoptech chart you can see the measurements they take. I don't need all of them so feel free to PM me if you'd be so kind as to help with this.

Thanks, Rishie

Well ****, UPS decided to change the address of one of my packages (the front kit) and sent it to an apartment in a not-too-nice part of town. Hopefully, I can still get them by tomorrow...

for the sake of gathering data......i pulled off the LF wheel today to verify rotor/caliper clearances per hyperion . (i put 3 lugs on to hold the rotor secure) I also have the first "need to grind" kit........ feeler guage measurements... inboard .0.77 rotor to bracket face...outboard .061rotor to caliper...i know i didnt measure the same place on the inboard but .021 difference on the outboard is real......
i now noticed in your pics that your caliper is set back further from the bracket face than mine looks, though i didnt measure it i went and looked again with a inspection mirror, mine is almost flush, just ever slightly proud of the caliper interior, yours definitely looks out further...(94 touring)

Thanks for the info. 0.020" isn't ideal, but it's a lot closer than mine were. In order to get the kit to bolt up without binding I had to mill 0.040" off the caliper bracket. This is just a band-aid--we need to determine if this is just my car or all the A-spec kits...

Anyone with an installed revised kit out there besides me?

Has anyone actually tracked these brakes yet with the full front/rear kit and track pads on them with some decent HP in the car?

Howard- When are you planning on going to Blackhawk Farms to beat on these brakes?

Mark, I'm running the 500's at Laguna tomorrow, albeit with my hacked/modified adapter brackets. I'll post here with the results.

I'll be at Road Atlanta with mine (assuming they arrive in time) the last weekend of the month running ET 900's front and rear. I've got accelerometer data from my previous brakes so hopefully I can generate some objective data - if weather cooperates.

The Gen 1 kit is no longer listed on their website.

The Gen 2 kit WAS referred to the "Shallower Offset" option.
