FC: Tanabe/AGX Tuning.

I just installed new, Tanabe GF210 springs with KYB-AGX dampers on my '89 GTUs
and have a few questions on tuning this set-up.

On the first test ride, and with the dampers set at the factory position of 2/F-4/R,
the car felt very bouncy/under-dampened. For the 2nd test I changed the settings
to 3/F-6/R...better but, still a bit bouncy.

Am I missing something here? I mean, do the dampers have to be adjusted to full
stiff for proper contol of these springs? I also replaced the strut mounts, sway bar
bushings etc. The tires are new, General G-Max AS-O3's with 38psi at all 4 corners,
and seem to have decent sidewall stiffness.

Any feedback is appreciated from those that have experiance with this set-up. I
should note that I am not looking for a 'comfy ride, but hopeing to avoid the 'buck-
board stiff ride from my previous S4 with coilovers.

You need to run them pretty stiff. The compression doesn't change much between the settings, but you need a higher rebound rate for the springs. I have the same setup and run atleast 3F/6R shock settings.

Whats interesting is I found an old thread where a forum member with this exact
combo was happy with a 1F-3R setting! Maybe I am just spoiled with my
'94 Mustang that is set up for road racing, and has a very stiff spring pkg, with
Koni SA's...very firm and controled for the street, to race car stiff for the track. In
any event, I will keep experimenting and see what happens.
