FB 13 inch wheels.

Hey guys, I am sorry for asking a potentially dumb question, but I have no clue what I am doing.

I need a full set of new tires for my poor little FB. I currently have the stock 185 70R13 tires, and I would like to get something that will fit on the stock rims.

Since my real goal with this car at the moment is simply to use it as a daily driver, I do not need top of the line performance wheels, but I would like something that is better than the cheap crap you can get at costco. (my mom put cheap costco tires on our civic and every time I drive that thing, I fear for my life)

I am just looking for something that will keep me safe during the winter months without having to spend 100+ per tire.

13 inch tires are hard to find. 185 70R13 are even harder to find. You might have to settle on what you can get.

Here are some. $63 each http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...70&diameter=13

Walmart also has this same tire for $73 but with free shipping to store. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Kumho-1906313/19473787

NTB also has some. http://www.ntb.com/tires

Isn't the internet great.

You can run 205 (even up to 215) on the stock rims. But the selection is pretty slim, so be prepared to search around.

Thanks for the help guys. I was actually able to track down some tires at pepboys for 30 bucks a piece on clearance.

Maybe you can inform me what needs to be done if I want to switch to 15 inch tires?

To switch to 15 inch tire, there are several choices. None of these are cheap.

1. Find some rare 15 wheels for the 4x110mm bolt pattern.
2. Have some 15 inch wheels custom drilled for the 4x110mm bolt pattern.
3. Install GSL-SE brakes and then find some 15 wheels for the 4x114mm bolt pattern.
4. Get some spacers that convert from 4x100mm to 4x114. I personally don't like this option but other do. Someone at one point had some 15 inch wheels with spacers in the For Sale section. Might look there. https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...ptors-1047396/

4. Do a big brake update to 2nd gen brakes and 5x114mm bolt pattern (this gives the most options). The only issue is that big brakes kits are hard to find because no one that is reliable makes them. I currently am in discussions with a manufacturing company to get these made. Will hopefully have an answer next week to determine if it will be cost effective.
