factory rear tie rod design thought

The factory rear tie rods have a shaft embedded inside the adjuster. It runs the length of the threaded stud/adjuster. It's press fit and keyed but welded etc. Does anyone know why it designed that way? Is it for limiting the adjustment and or for strength, or something else.

I meant it was "not" welded as if it was not there for strength.
