Experts please help with tire size on 17 rims
I have a set or works rims on my FD, they are one peice. I do not know anything about the offsets. The size is 17.9 in front and 17. 10 rear. I am currently running 225-45 front and 255-40 in rear. Just up graded the motor to 350Hp I need a good sticky street tires for profromance and looks. The tires I have now get caught on the front fender on the top. I do not have coilovers but im going to get some. What size tires will look and proform best for this set up? My car is for street racing and cruzing mostly
If you are hitting the fender now, you are in trouble, because lowering it and putting the CORRECT SIZE TIRE on there will make it worse. The offset for the fronts sound way off. You are running a 225/45 on a 9" wide rim?? I would think you need a 255/40 up front.
As for the rear, you should have a 275/40 back there at least.
Of course, this is if you want a typical setup and look. Maybe you are shooting for that dorifto style, but I doubt that.

As amraam4 said, you should ideally be running 245/40 or 255/40 up front, 265/40 or 275/40 on the rear. If you are hitting the fender lip with 225/45 tires and the stock suspension, the wheels have way too low an offset (or you have some problem with your suspension).
I have to say that they are gab shocks with ebach springs in the front. What if I roll the fenders and get coilovers or will it just work with coilovers. I think when I turn in the drive way it bends the front fender out alittle. What are your suggestions on tires?
we just told you the suggestion on tires.
Rolling the fenders is always a good option too. Coilovers might solve the problem, but it is the offset that is killing you. That you cannot change. Not to mention many people with Eibach's tend to have rubbing issues, but not the H&R people. Hence why I went with the H&Rs
