Equivanalt to Hawk HP+ pads? (that wont ruin my wheels)
Hey guys, so I'm due for a new set of pads, and I've come to ask the great braking Senseis for advice.
Ok, I love my Hawk HP+ but I cant use them any longer... they are ruining my rims (well i will if i cant find a suitable replacement ) . After a wash, i can turn my silver rims black in an afternoon, and end up wiht hot bits of melted brake pad stuck to my rims. I know there are tons of other pads out there Axxis, carbotech, EBC, etc... but im looking for some recomendations from people who have used the HP+ v.s. some of the other pads. The only thing i dont like is the dust (which may simply not be avoidable).
What I do like about the HP+:
Good modulation and brake "feel" (when warm)
Great initial bite and hold (when warm)
They will take relatively high operating temps with stride, but also perform well in the "warm" range
Great in the twisties
Useable on the street (i think)
Not particularly suitable for the track (id swap pads if i were heading to the track for a day)
What I dont like so much but can live with:
Brake squeek/squeal. They can get a bit loud, but its nothing too horrible
Not-so-great to poor low temp braking (When i first set out in the morning or during a highway cruise with little breaking, if i suddenly have to get on the brakes i definately takes longer to stop)
What I cant stand:
The brake dust.
Ok gurus and senseis... what would you recomend if anything?
Thanks, Heath

well i run the Hawk HPS and I still have a similar problem with the dust on my rims. I would like to hear some more, maybe more current, comments.
I just came across this thread while searching really quick u might want to read

my rims being the mesh style are a REAL pain to clean...especially if they aren't cleaned regularly.
