what size will u guy use on the FD for the best perfomance

Those don't come in too many FD friendly offsets. The easiest fitment will probably 17x8 +45 F/R or 17x8.5 +40 F/R. You might be able to get the 17x9.5 in the rear with the 17x8.5 in the front but it may require some fender rolling depending on the tire sizes you want to run.

 

I've got 18x9.5 in +38 offset at all 4 corners. I had to roll the fenders front and rear and have ground control coilovers with a bit of a drop. I've tracked the car at Summit Point - they rub the fender liners in front but have no structural contact. tires are 285/30-18 BFG KDs all around. I am seriously debating getting another set of these as they work well, are relatively inexpensive, very light and I get lots of compliments on them. Car is very well balanced with this setup.

i like these wheels a lot the thing that just really really pisses me off is there are no decent sizes in gold.

 

It costs about $80-120 a wheel depending on where you go, but having a shop powdercoat them will let you make the wheels any color you choose. As long as you find a decent shop, they'll look like they came like that from Enkei

 

I have a client who tracks and opted to do the 17x8.5 +40 all around with 255/40/17. It's the thinnest wheel you can run on that tire size but works very well.

If you don't mind staggerring your wheel setup than you can definitely go 8.5 and 9.5. It will work without problems. 245/40 front and 255/40 rear if you want or 225/45 and 255/40.

Here's mine on 17X8 & 9's. 225f and 245r I actually bought 'em for my FC, but when I got the new car, the wheels stayed with me.

(thanks again ARD T2 for the killer deal on 'em, BTW. I can't say enough about Rishie's customer service.)

 

I run 255 width tires all around on old 9.5 inch wide Enkie NT-03's, they fit fine in the back and required a little bit of fender rolling in the front. IMHO staggering sucks, you can't rotate your tires and you are using a less grippy(narrower) tire up front to compensate for a poor suspension setup and/or a unskilled driver that is afraid/incapable of handling oversteer.

 

My buddy (Omochi) has 17x9's +45.. That would fit nicely on the FD. Although the rears are pretty sunk in, so you want some spacers for aesthetic purposes, like what he's doing.. haha

 

Those 9.5's will easily fit. If I can get 17 x 9.5 (rear) and 17 x 8.5 (front) on an FC you shouldn't have issues on an FD...

 

I got the 8's for the front for two reasons.
a: I bought them used, for my FC. I sold the car and kept the wheels.
b: Even thought he wheels are only 17 inches, there's a TON of clearance for bigger calipers/brake upgrades I may do in the future.

 

On the track I run the 17x8.5 and 17x9.5...I believe offsets are 38 front and 35 rear. They rub a little bit with 255/275 Toyo RA1's, but a small massaging on the fender will take care of that.

18x9.5 +45 and 18x10 +38 with 235/40 and 265/35. I kinda wish I had gone a little wider with the tires, I didn't really have to roll the fenders but I did anyway, and after I get some new bushings hopefully it will bring my camber back into place, and if that happens I will be glad they're rolled.

On a side note, these things are pretty light, I think the stock wheels are like 15lbs and these 18s are 18lbs, so it's not that much of a jump. I really do like them, I just wish the rears were a little deeper or something. In some of the pics the front looks deeper than the rear, like in the last one I posted. I will say they look MUCH better in person though.

special ordered from japan, only took a month to come in too :o

in any case, it's a good setup but you'd ideally want to roll the front fenders. the rear as mentioned by quickfini, could use a lower offset strictly for aesthic purposes

Rich, I know we talked about these actually weighing more than stock but I don't notice much of a difference. Not that I would notice that much anyway since it's only 3 lbs, haha. I'm happy either way.
