Eibach Vs. H&R

Hi,
Just want to know the performance and the looks of the both springs (Pro Kit and H&R Progressive). I'm using the R1 shocks combination for street use and some track event. I am thinking about the Ground Control as well, please advise. Thx

I'm using H&R springs with the R1 shocks now. The combination works very well together, whether on the street or on the track. They're not as sharp or crisp at turn-in, as my old Racing Beat/Tokico setup was, but you only need that for autocrossing. The H&R spring/R1 shock setup allows a bit more give, and there's a slight delay (compared with the RB/Tokico) for the chassis to set in a turn. This is actually a good thing, since the tires load much more progressively, allowing them to reach their limits at a much more progressive rate. Must be because the H&Rs are progressive rates, and the Racing Beats are linear rate (I spunout more with the RB/Tokico setup--very nervous handling!).

H&Rs lower about 1.25 inches. The Eibachs ~1 inch. My signature has pics posted of my car, so you can get an idea of how much H&Rs lowered it.

The Ground Controls are threaded body shocks with coil springs. They're more flexible with ride height adjustments and for corner weighing (if you're into road racing). Other than that, there's really not much of an advantage. Oh... you can mount 10-wide wheels and 11-inch wide tires up front because the Ground Control springs are 2.5-inch diameter vs. the stock 4-inch diameter coil spring, ie you can mount 1.5 inches more wheel/tire toward the inside of the car.

I checked Tire Rack's website. The H&Rs are $243 per set. They've gone up since I bought mine ($210). Must be inflation? The springs are a dark blue color. They're finished with a very durable multi-coat powder coat, with white lettered "H&R Sport Springs" on the coils.

Eibach vs. H & R

Installed H&Rs a few months ago - 7/8 "
drop all around.
I'm disappointed because, while the
rear of the car sits even, left to right
, the left front is 1/2 " lower than the
right front.
Installed new shocks - still a sag
Switched all mounting rubbers from
left to right - still a sag.
I'd say the front springs aren't matched.
I heard Eibachs had this problem so
I ordered H & Rs. Oh well ! another
vendor I won't do business with again.
I've owned my FD for over a year and
have had nothing but problems with the
aftermarket.
Pettit - boost gauge installed half-
assed into mounting cup
3 weeks to deliver
M2 - wrong bushings in trailing
links - click,click
3 weeks to deliver
Racing Beat Ordered dual tip got single
tip catback
Tire rack - Their recommended installers
in my area can't install my
18" tires on my rims.
Lowering springs mismatched.
Sorry, Just had to vent !

jag,

I remember a thread from the big Rx7 list a couple of years ago regarding the sagging left front (mine does that too). Apparently, all FDs sag at that corner. The only around it is to get threaded body shocks (Ground Controls) and adjust the ride height by raising the left front. Sorry to hear about all the crap going wrong. I've had my car for 6 years, and has been quite reliable. My mods are mostly reliability so they've been decent.
