Eibach springs
Eibach springs
Just installed some Eibach springs (5525.002) on the rear, I measured fender height before and after and there's no difference. I was expecting about a 1" drop, what am I missing?
If you do a search, you'll see the Eibach springs don't really lower the rear much at all. They will lower the front quite a bit. Those are some old photos of my car with Eibachs.
Springs are on the shocks correctly.
Mahjik, I believe I've seen in one of your post about the minimal affect on the rear, I just figured there would be some change. Thank's for the pic's. Did you mod your wing?

When I bought the car (many years ago), the previous owner had decked the car out with all Racing Beat products. I will be using a different wing next year so this one will be up for sale if you are interested.

With those springs and 275/40-17s on the rear, I measured 26.5" to the bottom of the fender lip.
Yea I'm about the same, 265/35/18. I've been emailing GroundControl hoping they have some different springs that would do the trick, at least for the rear, but they say no. Now I don't know what to do.
Before installing the Pro Kit rears I compared them to the stock spring/shocks side by side on the floor, wish I'd taken a pic. To be clear I have the Eibach's installed on a set of stock shocks to replace my existing shocks. So one set of stock springs/shocks and one set of Eibach/shocks. They measure exactly the same in length. I expected the Eibach/shocks to be shorter to lower the car especially with stiffer springs.
If you compared to my shot above, that's where the Eibach springs will be by themselves. If you want something lower, you have a few options:
1. Different springs (or coilovers)
2. Height adjustable shocks like Koni's

Koni shocks with the spring perch set in the middle will even out the ride height.
Its not a huge deal either way. Not sure why you are fixating on "what to do now"...

Any springs really. The Koni's have 3 available perches for the springs (High, Medium, Low). You can use your existing Eibach springs and use the Medium perch for the front, and the Low perch for the rear. Something like that will help even out the rake of the car.
Just curious as I'm not sure if the perches are independent, but would it be detrimental to the handling for one use the Medium perch for rear driver's side and front passenger side, Use the top perch for the front driver's side and the Low perch for the rear passenger side. For some reason my car is about a 1/2 low on the front drivers side and about 1.5" high one the rear passenger side.

Check the orientation of the lower spring perches. Sometimes people mount one upside down compared to the other resulting in odd ride height differences. I've seen that various times over the years.
Also check the upper shock mounts. If they are severely worn, you will also see some small variations (+/- .5") in ride height.

Ok another quick question (or two
).
Does it make a difference if one of the rear shocks has the label pointing in and the other pointing outward since the spring's mounting perch would be 180*? I thought it would but I got them from Fritz pre-assembled and so I kind of assumed that it would be alright and didn't want to go through the hassles of going and renting a spring compressor. I could be wrong, but perhaps that could be a reason for the height difference?
Another thing is that I assumed my sway bars might be messed up causing the car to rebound one way before the other first. I removed the sway bars and the rear mounts and bushings were good (fronts bushings are shot). One of the end links (not sure what to call them but the part that is integrated into the bolt that goes through the the lower shock mount) has a tear in the rubber boot and I don't know how to tell if they're still good or not. I think I might have damaged them since I took off the spring/shock combo to replace them w/o removing the sway bar and bent the thing every possible direction to wiggle it . Would it be possible to drive the car w/o sway bars to see if this fixes the sidewards bounce on bumps on the road? I don't see why not, but decided after my fubars I decided to seek guidance from the club.
