Do i keep ABS?

Hey guys I have a 93 fd and the ABS does not work, should I fix it or just get rid of it? I was going to upgrade to big brakes does that matter?

I'd ditch it lose weight and since it doesn't work you won't know the difference I've ran daily on the street over 4 months now no problems but I used a proportioning valve for the rear I also put a line loc on the front for some fun

That's what I was thinking, might as well delete and stick with a big brake kit and some sticky tires lol
How much you pay for the line loc?

You can put together a line lock from Jegs for pretty cheap. I deleted the ABS from my old car and had a line lock as well. Never missed the ABS. Loved the space in the engine bay it freed up.

I like my ABS, even at an autocross.

Do you ever have to use your brakes in a panic on wet roads? Or in a turn? Or in traffic? If so, then it can be a good thing.

I would think it's good for resale too.

I used to have the same concerns others are posting about driving without and in the rain etc.. Then I I actually did the mod and realized that the ABS never actually kicked in anyway and there was no difference. ABS does not engage unless you stand on the brakes.. If you just slow down, even abruptly slow down the brakes do not lock up as you guys are assuming.

Just trying to point that out.

I have a few old ABS units I will sell you cheap if you'd like to try and get yours working correctly.

I have used ABS while autocrossing (yep - standing on the brakes). It even works when going backwards!

Yeah it doesn't rain much where I live, I don't like getting the car wet anyways lol, and I'm that driver that stops two car lengths behind cars at the red lights. I have used the brakes pretty hard and there wasn't an issue. So idk, I guess ill keep thinking on it. I don't plan to sell the car and if I do ill FORSURE get the ABS fixed.

Don't know what your definition of standing on the brakes is, but I know on one corner at a track here, you're holding speed and stabilizing the car with just a touch, pedal will pulsate. Another car which would lock the unloaded corner due to a S8 to S6 ABS compatibility issue in the wiring harnesses and was spooky, was fixed after I went through and rectified that issue with the late ABS.

Standing on brakes means exactly what I said... Kind of obvious. In 14 years of driving my FD (daily, not track use) I've never had an ABS engage with normal pedal use, ever. If you stand on the pedal then ABS will engage and pulsate as designed. That's my honest experience, opinions will vary.
