Deep Dish rims and low offsets
Deep Dish rims and low offsets
My question involves haveing that "deep dish" or "large lip" type of rear wheel on an FC using a lower offest number.
Ive found with the search function that you can run a 275 width tire in the back of an FC with fender rolling. Now given that the fenders remain rolled, here is my questions....
1. Will a 255 tire and rim (9 inch or 9.5) combination have the ability to have the a deeper dish than a 275 tire and rim (9.5 to 10 inch) combination (since with slighty less rubber width, the rim could be pushed farther out),
OR
Does the 275 tire merely add tire width towards the inside of the wheel well and the "look" would be the same as a 255 since the added width would be on the inside.
2. What would be the deepest dish possible with a 255 or a 275 width rim respectively. Again, assume only fender rolling as the modification.
3. If i were to use LE37T volks with a low offset, would the dish increase, or would the spokes just change angle to compensate for the offset?
4. If i were to use you Gram Light 57pros with a low offset, would the dish increase or would the spokes just become more angled to compensate for the offset
After going to sevenstock and seeing some cars with the lower offsets and deep rims, im hooked on that look. Hopefully this post will show up in searches and thus become a good reference (assuming good feedback!). Thanks for your time....

I think it depends on the manufacturer and the construction of the wheel. Some companies make deep dish wheels using the same offsets as their standard wheels. Check out the Work Termist S1C. I believe they can make custom offsets and have a deep dish option.
Thanks for the idea on the wheels, ill take a look at those.
Thats why i numbered the questions and made them very specific. Partly because i was looking for fairly clear answer, and partly because its nice having good threads to search for (assuming people actually use the search function). Anyone else have some answers? Maybe Rishie or someone?

Look at Braid wheels, they will give you a choice of lips, keep in mind, the deeper the lip, the smaller the brake caliper. If you will have stock brakes even the deepest lip will be fine. Lots of nice styles, 3 piece, not very light, a 17x12 weighs 26lbs, so lighter than stock, but not as light as some. You could also do the SSR SP1, that is what I am doing, http://www.speedstar.co.jp/collectio...sp1/index.html take a look, click on your diameter for available offsets(there are hundreds), then call chuck at Rotary Extreme, he will be ordering mine in about 2 weeks. Personally, I think the Forgeline RS3 is a better-looking wheel for street applications (whereas the SP1s are more for comp use--perhaps?)

RS3 Forgelines are available from Wheel Source www.wheel1.com
Although for the money, the SSR Integral GT2s look great! 9 fr, 10 rr x 17--or--9.5 x 17 all around 40-mm offset. Can Chuck get the GT2s?

I beleive he can, mine are coming direct, so I would imagine any current rim would be available. Plus he is exceedingly fair on price
The Forgelines break the Bank compared to Chucks price on SSR 3 piece. New rim halves might be a bitch, I may order an extra outer front, and rear if they'll sell them seperate.

Wheel Source will discount from retail, so list price is not what you'll pay for the RS3s
Good luck with your setup, Carl. Take lots of pics, and post them on the forum!
