Cut down Koni shocks

I need to shorten the length of my front Koni yellow shocks to allow another one inch drop for the front coilovers. (Otherwise the un-compressed springs are loose on the mounts). Does anyone know if the round "washer" on the shock rod (which supports againt the compression stroke) is threaded, or is a press fit? I would like to know before I start taking everything apart, so I am prepared.

shorten shocks

Re; Three levels on spring perch. Yes, but there is still slack even on the shortest setup. I need at least a little tension on the spring by the shock in the fully extended position. If the car goes un-weighted by going over a bump, the spring may come out of register with the top or bottom mount. If this happens, the handling would be more than a little erratic.
