So spoke to Fikse and they indicated that the price on that website is no longer current and that the price they've shown is not an updated one.

Sorry guys, I got shot down by Fikse. Even offered multiple set order and he wouldn't do a thing on pricing. I'll see what I can do and we'll try to move from there.

Yes definitely each. lol.

Guys the cheapest I can do something like the sleeper fitment is around $3000.00 shipped with hardware. Would cost about $3200.00 from Fikse direct under club pricing. That wheel lists out with shipping and hardware for about $3700.00. I've eliminated all the profitability now, especially since Fikse won't drop ship I have to pay inbound freight and back out to you.

Rishie

Let me know guys.

Hmm. So the "old" technology classic line has increased in price? Further, it means at one point in time the price was "valid".

I guess I am in the wrong business, if I had 5 year old technology not only would I have to cut prices but I'd be out of business.

Maybe Volks are the way to go...

Thanks for trying ARD T2

I guess their business is doing fine, but those are outrageous prices... they'd probably sell twice as many if they were even reasonable.

Afterall, it is just machined and anodized billet alluminum bolted together. No moving parts.

Thanks for even trying, Rishie!

no doubt. Rishie I suggest you make some money on another wheel especially if they won't drop ship as that adds to the hassel.

by the way - I just found this wheel fitament site. Allows you to raise & lower your car and try different size wheels. My computer makes all the wheels seem like they are 20" though..

Fikse are pricey but they offer 15% discount when ordering direct. *still pricey* As a comparison, Kinesis 18x10 is around $3K and Fikse 18x10 is $3700.

Hey guys, not trying to defend Fikse pricing so much as offer some insight into manufacturing. The center part of the wheel is CNC (computer numeric controlled) machined after it is forged. If you've ever seen a large part like that on a mill you'd notice how much time it take to machine each one. Doing a different bolt pattern? I bet there are some subtile design difference on some 5 bolt patterns. That means they have to run a different setup. 8.5" wheel vs a 10" wheel, they are different. Different setup.

Besides the time it takes to CNC the finish is absolutely AMAZING on these wheels. All that takes time, time costs $$.

We have 3 3-axis CNC mills at work. I don't run them but I do witness how long it takes to set up these type of things. It isn't easy and it isn't cheap. Of course there is a supply and demand thing going on too. If they are busy why offer a discount?

Rishie, how receptive is Kinesis to some enhanced discounting?

Excellent points, Jeff! True High Quality costs money. I just don't know if many of us FD owners are willing to pay for that standard of quality. My impression is "no"?

Some day, I'd like to own a set of Fikse Profil 13s. I absolutely love this wheel design. My dream would be to have them in 9.5 x 18 front and 10.5 x 18 rear with 265/35-18 front and 295/30-18 rear. Fikse once posted an offset chart, but they no longer have that link on their website...a shame since I can't figure out what offsets are available for a given wheel width

Enjoy your FM-5s!

I've already worked out everything with Kinesis. We like them, they love us. I have aggressive club pricing for you guys as several members can attest to. Turn around time has sucked but the wheels were done well. pricing is still starting in the 3's for 18s. A lot cheaper than the fikse. If you added a full polish to kinesis the price would be near that of fikse.

Rishie

I have aggressive pricing on Volk Racing for all the club guys. So basically you guys have permanent group buying power. The only time that might help is if we need to jump another level in pricing. Most we don't need to do that. Fikse, I just thought 5 sets of wheels a good 15,000 sale would interest them. Guess not. He mentioned that, "Fikse is not a price point product. If someone wants it they will pay for it." I just replied that we'll just keep working with kinesis. Apparently they do want our communities business.

I agree with the "time is money" creed too, but as Rishie mentions below, that's only half the equation. Fikse obviously couldn't give a rat's *** about a large buy from a large car community.

That, in my mind, is really, really poor customer service. And eventual death if they pull it enough times. If they'd have handled it better, explaining why (I suppose lying), I would've understood a little more. The whole "people want them and they'll buy them" schtik may be true, but it won't always be. A customer lost is a customer lost in my mind. You can't lose money in your business, but you CAN give a discount, and they should consider their source for the buy. When I checked this morning, this forum had 26,517 members, many of which will access this thread when they search for "Fikse".

Fikse sales shouldn't be so smug, IMO.

Indeed.
Fikse wheels are well made, and certainly an investment, but since we aren't running the 24 hours of lemans, and most of us don't need a custom offset fitment on a 13" wide wheel... all you're really paying for is appearance. There really isn't a quantifyably performance advantage with a $800 Fikse 17x9" wheel over, say a $500 Volk, or even my $350 SSR (The Fikse is likely the heaviest of the bunch). All three are plenty strong for our applications, so in the end, its not unlike the $200 billet alluminum air seperator tanks someone was peddling a while back... its just bling.

I love the look of Fikse wheels, but I could buy Volks or Prodrives or Advans, and have them refinished any way i want for the same money. Hell I could have my SSRs WIDENED to 10" and refinished for that. Its hard to swallow.

Rishie's account of the sales guys smug attitude says it all: they'd rather be more like HRE than Kenesis. So vote with your wallet... and continue to do so even when you reach the point in life where 4k for wheels isn't a big deal.
