Current 2019 Front Sway Bar Offerings

Looking for a front sway bar for my FD. I don't want anything crazy stiff, just a small upgrade from stock. I would also like it to be tubular. Here is the data I have been able to dig up on various bars:

  • Stock: 28.6mm hollow, 4.4mm wall, baseline
  • Cusco: 32mm, hollow?, 39% increase (note - Cusco lists the stiffness as "139%", however I am assuming this means +39% because otherwise it would have to be larger diameter. I am also basing this on the fact that their catalog of swaybars has none that are listed below 100%, so I doubt they are more than doubling the stiffness of the stock bar on EVERY car)
  • Addco 28.6mm solid, 40% increase
  • Tanabe: 30.4mm hollow, unknown wall, unknown % increase NLA
  • Godspeed 31.4mm "solid", 40% increase (something doesn't add up with these numbers...either it is hollow or their 40% claim is just generic marketing jargon)
  • Racing Beat: 33.3mm hollow, 4.8mm wall, 92% increase NLA
  • Racing beat: 31.75mm solid, 97% increase
  • ST: 31.8mm solid 114% increase

I looked for a Tanabe (30.4mm tubular), but they are no longer produced. Sikky is 32mm tubular but at $400, it seems overpriced and they don't list wall thickness or stiffness % increase. Racing Beat and ST are too stiff IMHO. So that leaves Cusco, Addco and Godspeed. I don't trust Godspeed. Addco is about $185 shipped at the moment and seems like a good choice at 40% increase, but it is solid. That leaves Cusco as the only one that checks all the boxes, and at $255 shipped from RHDJapan its not too bad price wise. The only thing holding me back is that I haven't been able to confirm whether or not it is hollow. Anyone know? If I could find the weight that would tell me for sure but I don't see it listed anywhere.

Why not call sikky and ask them what the wall thickness is. They have good customer service.

I went with the Cusco. It came out to $267 shipped after all currency conversion. It weighs about 9.5 lbs on our shipping scale and the OD is 32.0mm. So yes it is definitely hollow! The RB bar is listed at 20 lbs and the ST is 23 lbs (probably including bushings) so at 9.5 I would say that a ~10 lb weight savings over the other options for less than $40 additional landed cost is well justified!

The discontinued Tri-Point Engineering sway bar can still be sourced from their supplier Pro Parts USA
