coilovers and tire/rim sizing

why do you coilovers allow you to run a more aggressive(larger) rim/tire combo?

is it soley b/c of being able to adjust ride height or is there something else?

tks.

It's also because they typically use 2.5" race springs that are smaller in diameter than factory or stock-replacement springs, you've got more inboard clearance for the wheel.
