Coilover clunking noise help.
i have a 1991 rx-7 turbo. i got some used MAZDASPEED COILOVERS (blue with the eibach springs) and tein camber plates before. anyways just tonite my left coilover started making these horrible sounding clunking sounds when i hit bumps and make sudden accel/decellerating. just wondering what this possibly can be. any help would be nice. ty!

strike up the paean
take wheel off. check everything is tight. check the strut mounting bolts are not loose. etc.
do you have a big nut on top of your coilover? make sure its not loose.
also jack up the car in the front and make sure the spring is not floating under no load. (i.e. the spring should touch both the top and the spring perch with the car in the air.)

Yup what he said.
the other thing is it might also just be pillowball clunk. I know a lot of people who have never had coils before and then get "spherical bearing" uppermounts and wonder why they make noise.
Check spring preload, and make sure the top nut on the damper is tight. There might also be play within the uppermount as you've mix and matched your Brands between damper and uppermount.
