Can you help identify a bad sound in my FD?
I'm trying to identify a clunk / thump type of sound that comes from the rear of the car and 'seems' like it might be on the passenger side. I am pretty sure it's the diff bushings but I need someone smarter than me to advise.
I thought it was brakes because the sound only occured when I applied them. Then I started to realize that it really occured when I let off the gas. It sounds like a metal on metal clunk. The sound hits when decellerating - not accelerating.
Within the past 300 miles I have replaced the shocks, boots, springs, 6 pillowball bushings, and added new Rotary Performance toe links and trailing arms. I also had an alignment done. Essentially the suspension is new. The car is a touring with no sway bar.
As far as I know - the diff bushings might be original.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

strike up the paean
i don't have much experience with FD's
but a metallic clunk during any kind of front/rear weight shift including on/off throttle and on/off brake is a pretty classic symptom of bad differential bushings on many rwd layout cars, including FC's and 240sx's
another possible culprit is usually the rear subframe bushings.
once again i don't know if it still holds true for the FD. sorry i couldn't be more helpful.

Thanks for the knowledge poopy and rick! I was going to go through the same expensive fire sale I'm Rick James B*tch had and replace everything down there to get rid of that clunk.....now I can hit those bushings first.
I'm such a greenhorn I didn't know the touring model had no sway bars.....I apologize in advance.
