Buying VOLK GT-Ps

Ya i plan on buying some VOLK GT-Ps

17X8 in the front with 235/45/17ZR
17X9 in the rear with 275/35/17ZR

anyone have fitment problems? I'm using Eibach Pro Kit springs currently... so the car isn't "really" low.. but it has a nicer stance... thanks!

275/35-17 on 9 x 17 is too wide for that wheel. That size would fit best on a 9.5 or 10-inch wide wheel. BTW where did you find the 35-aspect ratio for a 275-mm tire, 17-inche tire? The last tire available in that size was the Yokohama AVS Intermediate, but they're no longer available in that size? Anyhow Try a 255/40-17 on a 9 x 17. Much better fit on a 9-inch wide rim. The 235/45-17 is also a tad too wide for an 8 x 17 wheel, and slightly taller than stock. Go with a 225/45-17. Much better fitment, and will help with clearance issues with the front fender lips.

i wouldn't think a 275 would be a problem when Ari is using 265s on his stock 8" wheels... if there is a fitment problem i can always decide on different tires... thanks though!

They do produce that in the 10" width for the rear and that is what Mackin stocks. You could even run the 285/30 on the 10". Run a 235/40 on the 8".

If you'd like your forum deal please contact me. New equipment only.

Thanks, rishie

Remember that Ari is a drag racer. He wants the widest tires on the narrowest rims for large footprint but low unsprung weight.

You didn't my query about 275/35-17s

I could not find a 35 series in the 17".

Hey Manny,
I love GTPs and I see them listed in 17x9" with +44mm offset, do you think these will work all the way around with 255/40s without rubbing on a stock suspended car?

I have a good strong feeling he's gonna say, 245/40/17. We'll see. I think you might run into slight problems as it will be a little oversized.

Manny will know for sure. I know 245/40 is a safe way to go.

Either size will work. With the stock suspension, you'll have plenty of clearance for 255/40-17s. Once you decide to lower the car you might have some problems.

As I posted before, I have 255/40-17 Yokohama AVS I's on SSR Integral A2s in 9 x 17, 45-mm offsets all the way around. No rubbing at all with H&R Sport Springs and stock R1 (Showa) shocks.

I figured there was no such tire...275/35-17...I wish Yokohama would release it again though (used to be available in the Intermediates)! Perfect setup for a 10 x 17 wheel for our FD Rx7s!
