Bushings, Powerflex or Superpro?

So, While my motor is out I am going to be painting my engine bay. While I am at it I figured that I would clean and undercoat the wheel wells. So I've been thinking, while the suspension is off it would be a perfect time to install new bushings( replace 17 year old bushings on suspension parts that have without a doubt come from other cars throughout the years).

I've done a lot of reading through the forums and still can't come to a conclusion. My question is which kit is the better option? From my understanding the Powerflex kit is more complete, (I think it includes everything but pillowballs, also includes sway bar mount bushings which I dont need), but it is also more expensive, $800.

My other question is if there is anywhere to get either kit for a lower price? I know rx7store sells the Superpros for $520, and there was a group-buy for the powerflex, but JKL is no more.

Also does anyone know the price for the 6 pillowballs from Ray at Malloy?

The SuperPro kit doesn't have the inner rear LCA bushing, so I ended up getting the Mazdaspeed 40% stiffer one. I don't know if the PowerFlex comes with it. So far, no squeaks with the SuperPro, and not harsh at all.

Yep, did all the pillow-bushings as well.

I just replaced all my bushings with new stock ones while I was getting my rebuild.

Any good reason not to just refresh the bushings with new stock ones?

this is from the powerflex site, 8 - Rear Track Control Arm Inner Bushing. I think that is what you are talking about. If that is the only missing bushing I can get just those from powerflex.

The problem I am having comparing the two is that the Superpro kit does not give details on exactly what is provided, or at least rx7store's description.

I was just assuming that stock would be even more of an expense. How much were they if you don't mind me asking?

i got the super pro diff installed 3 years ago and havent had any squeeks.. i got a full kit from ard t2 on the forum a month ago, he can get them.. i am hoping to put them all in soon.. i would guess that the polyurethane would last longer than the stock rubber ones. i went with super pro because i hear all good things about it and power flex, i just decided to go SP

I just emailed ARD T2 to get a price, hopefully he will have them.

In all honesty I don't remember off the top of my head. All my receipts are at home and I won't be able to access them until after I get back from this deployment.

I'd give Ray Crowe (703-490-8170) at Malloy Mazda a call to ask him. Ray is the only man you should talk to if you're looking to get (new) stock parts.

great link, but it doesnt tell exactly what is included and prices along with where to buy them. Its a little strange that all the parts numbers match with rx7store's but the site advertizes 26 bushings and rx7store only says 22.

I have this site saved to my favorite bar, I was just hoping I could get them cheaper, it adds to about $820 on there. The only place I saw was the JKL group buy but he is done.

Yes the pillow ***** are in the rear arms, 2 in the lower, 1 in the upper. I've found the only place to get them is Mazda.

Contact Rishie at autornd if you want the superpro kit. He's "ARD T2" here on the forum. For superpro, contact "wan" here on the forum. Ive dealt with both, both good guys. All 6 pillowballs and dust seals will run you a little over $400 from Ray at Malloy Mazda. If you like to try something different, atomicrex is selling aftermarket replacements for around the same price. May be something to look into as well.

I can get you Powerflex bushings cheaper than if you ordered straight from Powerflex's website. The full kit of bushings without the front or rear sway bar bushings runs you $640 plus shipping. This includes the following bushings: front upper and lower control arms, steering rack, rear upper and lower control arms, trailing arm, toe links and diff bushings. Additional grease packets are available for $2 each if you think you may need more.

These are in stock and can ship Monday if you buy them from me. Thanks

Great price. I will more than likely contact you during the week for them. If I do not I am still very interested, just busy with last weeks of my semester. Any good student discount, haha, one can only dream.

Excuse my ignorance. Are the factory bushings pillowballs or are these upgrading from rubber to pillowball?

The factory bushings are rubber and there are 6 factory pillow ball bushings mentioned above. Someone above said that Atomicrex has an aftermarket replacement for the pillowballs, so I am going that route.

The factory bushings are rubber. In addition to the rubber bushings, the rear upper and lower control arms use pillowballs. If you were to replace all of your bushings with a polyurethane kit from Powerflex or SuperPro and 6 Mazda pillowballs with 12 dust boots (2 boots per pillowball) it will run you roughly $1,200 total in parts alone. Not exactly cheap but the pain in your wallet will go away right after you drive your car with all new bushings
