Question brakes fading - help!!!

i just had new brakes put in a couple weeks ago - stoptech stock-size discs, hawk pads, goodridge lines. bled the system 3 times and there is no air.

brake pedal fades and at hard application car takes a while to stop as if the pads aren't fully applying on discs. discs show slight heat scoring from this. no abs kicking in either.

any suggestions or advice???

i'm thinking master cylinder - any help is appreciated!!!

thanks

you may have a seized piston (or 2)
since you've done everything else.. you probably just need calipers. either rebuild them yourself, or get some from Napa or whatever. theyre like 75 each + your cores. not too bad

checked the calipers and they are moving freely; nothing hanging up. checked the abs unit and there was still some air trapped in there so pressurized the system again and bled and now pedal fade is gone.

u need track pads... The question is which track pads. Im in the same boat as you. I have stop-tech slotted rotors, motul 600 brake fluid and axxis ultimate pads and after 2-3 hard laps they began to fade.

For you, look at Porterfield R4 or Hawk Black or search on threads for other options

I was actually researching on the porterfields. I cant seem to decide on which R4 to get. (R-4, R-4s, and R-4e) They seem like excellent pads for track or even street.

They are. The R4 or R4E work for track only use. R4S is a street pad. SleepR1 used to use them if you care to search for his old threads as well as those from ptrhahn and others.

This isn't new info. There are some good threads on this topic if anyone wants to search and read.

if you're fading on track oyu probably need some ducting. no ducting doesnt cut it for hard use.

that's a good point but i was having trouble before even with street application. replaced the master cylinder and bled the abs unit and it is much better now - back to normal.
