Brake rotors

For blank rotors does it really matter what brand you go with? I was thinking either brembo blank rotors found those for $40ea + 40 shipping. Or just go to napa and get blank rotors. Would there be a difference at all? Or am I just being **** about going with top quality name brands?

Just go to NAPA, a set will cost around $100. Alot of road racers use NAPA rotors w/o any problems.

from what i gather your pads and fluid will go before your rotors do (unless you're using race compound/fluid) on TII brakes. bed them properly, and any cheap rotor will be just fine.

A center split core casting is probably a good idea for the track. See here for a picture

If you go to the auto parts store and look at the different brands you will see that lots of cheap rotors are side split, and they do tend to crack preferentially at that junction. I know Centrics are center split and think Brembos are too. Cheap rotors are cheap so bring a spare to the track just in case you get a bad one that cracks right away (I've seen that happen on a Corvette).

I dont track yet, i have an 87 t2 as a dd.

Here's the lowdown. My front brakes are at 6mm which is good, rear brakes are at 2mm which is bad. So the rear brakes need to be changed but thats not all. The front right rotor is horribly in need of a resurfacing, but I dont want to resurface just go new. Even if I did want to resurface I wouldnt be able to because the RF brake pad would be the formation of the old rotor and would just f up the new rotors. So i'm doing brakes all around. Either brembo rotors or some other blank rotor, HPS Hawk pads, and corksport steel braided lines. I looked into brembo slotted-drilled rotors but there way to expensive for a couple drilled holes and slots that really dont benefit you that much. The brembo blank was $40ea, brembo slot-drilled $90ea.

I use the cheap Lordco rotors on my car, both for street and track use and they're just fine. No need to go expensive, and even if they last longer, there's no way they'll last enough longer to make up for the price difference.
