Brake pads NOT to use on the street

In a pinch, I swapped in a set of Hawk Blues while waiting for a set of Porterfield R4S pads to arrive. Two days of use produced much dust covering about 75% of the car. And then it rained. Let's just say that the metal dust is now iron oxide and has bonded to the paint. I washed the car today and things didn't improve much. The sad part is, I just had this car repainted less than a year ago. Cleaner wax did nothing. Perhaps rubbing compound, but I'm afraid that it'll push the metal particles deeper into the paint. Just a head's up. If anyone has an idea how I can get this stuff off of my car safely, I'm all ears.

I read a similar post a while ago where someone got construction dust all over their car and it wouldn't wash off.

They ended up using a clay bar and that actually got the dust off. Maybe you could give that a try.

Damn, one clay bar, one car. Guess that pretty much sums up my entire weekend!
