Brake pad upgrade

Looking for any suggestions on upgrading the factory brake pads as mine is in need of front and rear pads. I have the cross drilled rotors and I drive the car hard, I was thinking of the Hawk pads. Just need some input on which ones to use. thanks in advance for the help ! ! !

I just switched from the Hawk HP+ pads to the Hawk HPS pads. My car is a daily driver and has not been tracked...yet.

The HPS pads are much, much better for daily use. The HP+ pads dusted horribly, squealed very loudly when cold or when doing a light stop, and gripped very suddenly (but hard!). They also tore up my rotors a bit as my daily driving rarely got them to operating temp. The HPS pads grip much more linearly, are quiet, and don't require any heating to work effectively. On top of all that, they are very cheap at the www.tirerack.com. Give 'em a try.

The only caveat for the HPS pads would be the fact that they are unsuitable for "road racing". Fading these on the street would take some doing.

Manny,

Are those a direct replacement? I thought in the Big Break thread it mentioned ordering new backing plates too? Please don't flame me I am too tired to go back and reread that thread again, it's been a long day.

If they are a direct bolt on replacement I am ordering them tomrrow. I am tired of the dust from these HP+ pads.

Thank you,
Damian

My understanding is that the non-RZ and RZ calipers use exactly the same pads. The springs are probably different since the RZ rotor is wider in the front, but most pads don't even come with springs so no big deal there. Just re-use the old springs like you would with any other pad.
