Bilsteins struts?

Anybody have any expericence or opinions with bilsteins struts for the FD? I know they make them, but I've never heard anything about them on the forum or from anybody.

Just curious.

My friend has them on his car. It rides like a tank. Handles good though. Bride seats + bilstein shocks= bruised *** cheeks

I have the bilstein shocks with racing beat springs and DAMN!...it rides very stiff. I can feel every pebble on the road. Handling is excellent though.

I have Bilsteins + stock springs as well and i love the way my car handles. Its tough after long rides but it does the car justice. I highly recommend them.

I dont know much about the Koni's or the Tokico's but if you go to the suspension/tire forum you will probably find someone who knows the answer your looking for.

I have the exact same setup, and though I love it when I am engaged in "spirited driving" there are some times/conditions/roads it is really brutal cause its so stiff - I go alternate routes

The Bilstein struts were a factory fit on the Spirit R (JDM)
Handle well.. I've come across a few sets before.. non height adjustable though.

That's what is nice about an adjustable. For daily driving my Konis stay at their softest setting as I am not one who needs his eyeballs to rattle in their sockets in order to feel like he is driving a performance car At the track I can dial them in within seconds and have a blast. At the end of the day I dial them back to soft and drive my tired butt home

USDM R1/2 models did not come with bilsteins. They came with"shoa" sp? shocks. Somebody correct me if i'm wrong.

Bilstein HDs are apparently self-adjusting...? The stiffness might be coming from the springs too?

The Bilsteins are great. They're stiff and handle aftermarket springs well (I have H&R's). I used to run them with the stock springs, and the ride while firm, soaked up big bumps well because the Bilsteins are digressively valved. They also cost $100 each from Dave Turner Motorsports. I used to have Tokico's which SUCKED *** compared to the Bilsteins.

Mark Vlaskis (Sp?) had a website with the shock dyno for the Bilsteins. They are actually as stiff as the GAB Super R's on smooth pavement yet respond to big bumps much better by not staying super stiff.

And yes, the R1/R2 shocks were made by SHOWA and were a twin tube design as opposed to the Bilstein's mono tube design which is superior. The Bilsteins also run a larger piston and shock body. I can post a picture if someone wants comparing the two.
