Big Brake Kits - Questions

Hi all,

I have been looking into big brake kits and have some questions. Looked through some threads here but not really the info I am looking for. First of all those kits are DAMN expensive! Who knew.

Anyway, most of the kits I see are sold as front or rear only, not a set for all four wheels. My understanding is that the front and rear have to set up so as not to foul up the brake bias? Does anyone know if there are kits sold for all four wheels or other model cars that would fit and not bankrupt me. I'm looking for the biggest kit I can get for an 18 inch wheel

Thanks

In this respect, the StopTech kit is one of the best. It's pistons are sized to work well with the stock rears, and won't require the 929 MC to maintain a firm pedal.

Well a couple of things-

First, BBK's are expensive because brake calipers and big brake rotors are expensive. Since most these kits are more for show the price reflects cool anodizing, DOT rated brake lines, etc. where race kits are often a little more utilitarian. Alsoa lotof the "kits" from Japan are seriously overpriced for what they are, you get to pay the "JDM" and "Drift" tax
At one time there was "budget" kit for FD's that mounted I think 350Z Brembos, but these calipers are not cheap so the kit has gone away.
There are a couple of race shops that make adaptors to fit various calipers- Wilwood, AP, etc. to the mazdas, but these kits aren't cheap either.

Since it doesn't seem you really know what you "need", go with the StopTech kit:

Are you buying a BBK to stop better or for looks?

You don't need a BBK to stop better....

Depends what you are doing with the car.
