a BIG brake kit.

So my buddy here at work is building a Factory 5 Cobra replica...Anyway, he's going totally all out on this thing...I think he's putting in a 514 Ford motor in it...I have no idea how big that it but aparently it's supposed to put down close to 800...Well, he got brakes from Baer...Really nice 6 piston kit...but he paid $4500...doesn't that seem kinda high for a brake package? I think he got fucked.

A 514 is an 8.4L BTW, but those are freaking awesome brakes. $4500 is way too high for me to concider since an Endless brake package w/ 6 piston front, and 4 piston rear brakes are like $3600.

That is pretty damn high for front brakes only.... or is that all 4 corners?

Those crossdrilled rotors will be questionable how long they last on the track especially with an 800hp+ engine in a track driven car. I'm surprised if he doesn't blow the tires off every time he goes WOT as he will be tire limited out back handling probably 800 ft/lbs tq in the low RPM range. A 514 is a big motor.... and portly. I assume the shortblock is an iron block?

An all aluminum small block would be a much better choice IMO for optimum handling.

We want progress pics .

My guess is if your friend is building a factory 5 car money is not as much of an option although the cheaper of the two companies when compared to Superformance with that motor I'm sure he's got at least 50-60k wrapped up in... that's a guess. Should be kickass.

The crappy thing is that it's 4500 for just front brakes...He says he thinks he can get done for 40k....I laughed...I was like..****! I almost have that much in my FD and it was already built

I was looking for some of the chassis and body pics but I can't find them...I will make this the official Factory 5 build up thread...He's just doing it weekends here and there and estimates it will take him 2 years to get done....I offered my services but he hasn't needed any help yet. Anyway, i will get some photos and post them when i at his place again

Yeah I'd think 40k is a bit low. A guy I know has a factory 5 and has pretty close to 50k in it and he's got I believe a 305? or a 302... Another guy I know has a superformance that's got 40k-50k wrapped up in the engine alone. They are badass cars though. Well now I see where you mean 4500 is a lot if it's only front brakes. That does seem like a serious rip. Keep us posted

I briefly looked at the Alcon components for my 356mmx32mm 6 piston front kit. They are simply way to expensive, If I recall 1500.00 retail per caliper.
I happily settled for the 6 piston AP5555. See the other big brake kit thread in this section for pictures.

looks good. I'd say he has plenty of workspace! Also he powdercoated the calipers for extra bling factor.

In all honesty,

Endless currently does not produce a R4 kit for the rear of the FD. I am inquiring with Japan about this. Retail on our 6Pot/R4 kit is $7025.00, all two piece floating disc. Forged two piece calipers, lines, brackets, and pads. The R6/R4 JGTC setup is $7855.00 approx. You can contact www.autornd.com for pricing and availability.

Just our big fron kit is almost $4000.00.

Overpriced like all of Baer's stuff. Your friend could have saved himself a ton of money by just picking up a 4-piston 13-inch rotor AP or Stoptech kit. Even a 6-piston 14-inch rotor AP kit is cheaper than that by quite a bit.

Figured I'd do a cobra update...He got 4 piston rear breaks willwood (sp) and then got this MONSTER differential from Ford Racing.

Here are a couple a pics.

If you guys think I should not post this in here you can move this thread to a more appropriate place.

nah man its cool.
I like seeing how much money this guy can dump into a car.
lol.
its kinda silly, but I do see it a lot, guys with loads of money buying the best of the best of the most expensive stuff and spend more time building the car then they ever will spend enjoying it on the road or track. I'm sure the car is gonna rip but there are so many other ways to spend the $$$$$ and still enjoy a FF car you DIY.

I actually wanted to build my own FF car from scratch untill I learned about LS1 swapped FC's and FD's.

Strange thing is....I thought he was going to tell me something rediculous for the price on this thing..It was less than $500 and I think the Kazz LSD for the FD is somewhere in the 800+ range. But he does pick the most expensive ****...So crazy..I'm sure he's going to have upwards of 75k in this thing when he's done...The paint he wants is going to cost him about 10k...Crazy crazy.
