Best suited for track grip

I'm planning on eventually setting up my FC for running the track, as well as a street car (once in a blue moon daily driver).

I was wondering if switching the wheel width out further and going with a wide body would be more performance oriented. I know that much wider tires do result in a slight loss in speed (hardly noticeable) but much better grip. I am trying to delegate on which would be more effective.

Any advice or suggestions? Does it really just come down to preferance?

Edit: I know there's tons of books out there, I know this topic is covered in the stickies, just looking for any well-knowledged advice or books that I could be refered to. Thanks

generally speaking, wider is better. the biggest downside is worse gas mileage from wider tires and increasing your frontal area. i lost about 4mpg on the highway going from 245's all around on stock body to 255/275 stagger with a widebody. my maf is also throwing a code so that prolly doesnt help lol.

going wider also changes your scrub radius (car may pull more on uneven roads), and reduces your effective spring rate (wheel rate), but thats an easy fix so i wouldnt call it a problem. the extra grip is well worth it tho imo
