Best street tire for drag racing
Best street tire for drag racing
Hi guys
A friend of mine who runs here in drag racing with his FD wants to run this year in street - class . In this class is free any modification in engine , gear box , transimition , but... its prohibit to use tires like m/t , nittos , etc .
Last year he makes a lot of races with Pirelli P zero corsa dry (245 - 50 -16 ) in rear with the stock FD wheels . Its a very good tire with excellent traction ( when is hot ) , and good results . Best time 11.7 .
Who can suggest me an even better tire ?
Who have experience in drag racing with a real street tire !
Thanks in advance .

When you run 11.7 on a real street tire I think that's pretty tough to beat!
I run M/T ET streets at the dragstrip and Pzero Nero on the street. The Nitto drag radial is a real street tire though. Why would they be prohibited?

A Pzero Corsa is an R-compound tire, LOL, why would it be allowed and a Nitto Drag tire not? In any case, you aren't going to get much better grip than with a warmed up R-compound so.......and 11.7 on a turbo-charged car with no traction control and no M/T streets ain't too shabby.
