best size rim(offset ect.) for tack/street?

hey everyone. i have been looking to get some rims and i think im going to get the volk GT-C rims for my fc. im not sure what the best size to get thought. im going to be running some tein flex coilovers. someone told me that 17x8.0 +33 for the front and 17x9.0 +35 for the rear was going to be good. im looking for more info and a second opinion before i go and spend that much $$$$$$

thanks

Gabe

Don't bother with those wheels, they're not that light and quite overpriced. THE best deal around in light wheels are Enkei RPF1's. A 17x8 or 17x8.5 are only 15.5lbs, and a 17x9 is only slightly heavier. The GT-C's are over 20lbs for those sizes. When you factor in the cost of about $1000 for all 4 Enkei's, compared to almost $2k for a set of the Volks there's really no reason not to get the Enkei's, and since they're track wheels, looks shouldn't really matter at all. The Enkeis are very strong too, so that's not even a concern.

If you've only got about stock power with no immediate plans to upgrade, I'd suggest going with 15's. That's right, 15's. Get some 15x8's (Rota Slipstreams from 18racing.com are about the only choice) and run some 225/45/15 R's. They're lighter, give you a lower CG for better grip and handling, and give you slightly lower gearing. They'll even fit in the trunk.

If you must go with 17's and don't have too much power I'd say get 17x8.5's and 235/40/17's in front and maybe wider rears if you really must (I wouldn't reccomend it unless you've got a bunch more power than stock, and then I'd go wider in front with some wider fenders to match).

well the motor i have now is street ported and im about to install a to4 (60-1 wheel) front mount with a microtec and all the rest of the supporting mods. i think im going to be making a little more power then stock . so you really think 235 in the front are going to be the best size? i think the front fenders can fit 245 with coilovers. if not then you could just roll the fender a little to make them fit. any input from anyone would be greatly appreciated. thanks black91n/a for all the help you have already given. thanks

What kinda track are we talking here? Strip? HPDE? Auto-x?

For the price of those volks, you could get 2 sets of decent wheels and tires and have the luxury of a "street" and a "track" setup.

Honestly, if I had $2500 to drop on wheels and tires, I'd get some 17x9 +25 FN01s or similar and throw some Kumho MXs or something on them for the street, then buy some Mustang rims (cobra would be best) and try to stuff some 255 Z1s or Azenis on them. Boom, track and street setups.

The reason I said 235's is because not everyone's willing to put in the effort to really roll or even pull the fenders a bit and maybe go with an offset that will rub then space it out to get just the right offset and stuff like that. Sure you can probably fit a 245 in front, but it'll require more work and it's got a greater chance of rubbing.

For the sort of power you're going to be running, I'd go widebody in front and get some 255's or something, to balance out some really wide rears. It's easier to do it now than to get something narrower and have to replace them.
