I'm telling ya, Bonez pads all the way. I doubt Bonez makes their own pads so they are probably rebadged from someone else, but they are great for the street without tons of dust.

 

how do the brembo replacement kits with the HAWK HPS pads that rx7store sells compare to these?

Pretty sure the bonez are metal masters. You are correct on the rebadging......although all of the RP 'bonez' line is quality stuff. can't go wrong by using them. If you're reading, I miss ya Ari

well I have just finished off my ebc greens and and ebc rotors no racing just street driven.

in my opinion I was expecting more bite for all the award winning hype? . the dust is not really bad at all no complaints there.

Has anyone tried the AXXIS ultimates yet? I

 

I have bonez stage 1 for street. Don't dust much, work well. I used them at one DE event at Watkins Glen, but it was my first ever, so I don't have much I can say except I didn't notice anything bad....

I switch now to Hawk Blues on the track based on suggestions from people I know.

Are the Bonez pads OK for Autox? I've never auto'xed before, but I want to try it out (it looks like fun, and I can do a heck of a lot more events for the same money as a DE event...).

 

Sure. Nearly anything is ok for autox as the brakes aren't used nearly as hard as on a race track.

 

When you look strictly at track time, I am pretty sure you get more bang for your buck at road racing vs auto-xing.

 

I've heard good things about the Porterfield R4S's, a lot of guys on mr2 forums use them.
I saw a guy on here post that he had used something like the hawks, ebc's and porterfields and found that the porterfields never faded whereas the other 2 did pretty quickly

I'm a big fan of Porterfields and I've been using their stuff for about 7 years. The "S" is a great, great street pad BUT it does dust and it does squeal. Very good initial bite and my pad of choice if you can deal with the dust/noise. MUCH better than Hawk HP's. With that said, I still recommend the N-Tech stuff because it's his own compound made for N-Tech. Nick is heavily into roadrace and the pad was developed with the RX7 in mind, something the other off the shelf pads are not. Being that Nick is an exceptional driver/instructor, I take his opinions as gospel most of the time. He often knows what's best even when I think I know what he needs. I'd definitely take his stuff over the EBC's. For overall breaking power I prefer the Porterfields. They were very hard on my rotors however and I had to replace them fairly quickly using the R4S on the street. Wear is much better with the N-Tech pads.

 

Good point... probably total driving time from what I hear at any 1 event is about 10 mins... but at a decent track event, it's like 20-30 mins per run, 4 runs per day, for 2-3 days! sweet! plus, you're certainly not going to be going 130+ during at autox...

 

AXXIS carbon/ceramic! Work GREAT and have the widest heat range for decent cold stopping and very low fade in high heat. Fairly low dust.
My Hawk Blues were horrible in the cold anbd very dusty AND no better than the AXXIS carbon/ceramic pads in fading.

 

Anyone talked about the Projet Mu?
I had the HC series, and they work very impressive when are very hot,
on cold (street use) is really not raccomanded.
I guess i will take ebc Green for rear since rear rotor warm less than front and for the fron i bought already a Knight Sports pad, i will mount next weak and i will write down a report about it.

Ok since i read on the EBC site that green pads are not suitable for track or cars with more than 200 Hp (i run 350 about) i will no more buy it.
Axxis ULT Ceramic for my rear are the best i read about since now, just they wear a bit the rotor.

Do You have any other suggest? why don't post a poll?

Axxis Ultimates are good street pads. Don't expect them to work very well with your power levels for track days though. I prefer to keep the compounds the same front and rear but other people have other preferences. They might be OK used solely on the rear with a more aggressive front pad that can tolerate higher heat range.

The N-Techs are supposed to be really good track day pads. Check them out if intl shipping is an option for you. Otherwise, maybe look into Hawk's brake pad line up for track days.

I will check Axxis ULT. About same compound, Yes, i aggree with You, but i have already a set of Knight Sports fron pad, i want to use and test it. after 2 month with this, i will add the rear pad to see difference.

when i was lokking for better brake pads i went for the bonez stage 1 pads since ive read good things about them and rx7.com had them bought all my other stuff from them great store btw

mostly street driving but 2-3 track days in the summer and they have yet to let me down great pads, ive bought another sett with the bonez roters to to have in stock when my old are in need of replecment


do as i did listen to mahjik and go with the bonez

 

I never had problems with my Project Mu HC+ cold, unless you mean below 0? and they aren't exactly dust free.

 

Bringing this back from the dead.

After searching for weeks and browsing through numerous brake pad threads, I can't seem to find any recent data. Have there been any breakthrough pads that are superior to pads of 4 years ago for high-HP street/occasional track use?

 

I'm curious of this too, as I'm in the market for new pads.
