Adding a few lbs of unsprung is hardly going to negate the benefits of much bigger brakes, IMO.

The ST-40 calipers weighs 7 lbs and the rotors weigh 12 lbs. Stock calipers weigh 6 lbs and stock rotors weigh 15 lbs. So, the Stoptech saves you 2 lbs of unsprung weight per side.

Rynberg, where did you get those figures? Does the rotor weight inclue the hat and mounting hardware? Does the caliper weight include the adapter bracket?

I got the caliper weight from Stoptech's website. I got the weights of the stock brake parts from http://www.mantissaracing.com/Mantis...eight_data.htm I estimated the rotor weight from the info on the same site (Gordon Monsen measured a 328x28 Stoptech rotor+hat at 10 lbs) -- the RX-7 kit rotor is 332x32.

My estimates apparently do not include the caliper adapter brackets but the rotor+hat should be pretty accurate. I think it's pretty safe to say that the Stoptech system doesn't weigh more than the stock braking system.
