Attn: Tein HA Owners

I wanted to ask everyone a question. I am seriously considering getting a set of these coilovers and have done a search and read threads for several days now.

What I would like to know from each of you is if you had the chance to buy these coilovers:

1. Would you do it again?:
2. Change to a different spring rate.
3. Use pillow mounts or not.

Just so that everyone knows where I am coming from I will be using my car for primarily street use along with occasional events at Summit Point and VIR. I currently have a set of single adjustable Koni Yellow's and Blue PFS springs, but I noticed I had a bad rubbing problem when I went to VIR. So I need to switch to coilovers, but I haven't heard good things about the Ground Control kit. So I would like some advice on the Tein HA's. Thanks.

- Cody

P.S. This is for a FD.

To add to VTAOE's questions, I also ordered these coilovers but haven't installed them yet. Can anyone tell me how good they are on the road and what settings to use. Thanks

I love my Tiens. I've had them in for almost a year and i havent had any problems. They are a little stiff when the car is slamed. But they are so worth it on the track. Right now i have my set at 4 in the front and 6 in the rear. That's pretty good for street driving. The only down side is to the tiens are that there is road noise. Some worse than others.

I have HAs on my MKIV Supra, excellent range of adjustment. rears clunk all the time. I started w/ pillowball, changed to stock mounts still the clunk. two major failures, Both rears leaked, and had to be rebuilt after 18 months(200.00). They claimed the shafts had tool marks on them wich in turn damaged the seals. I don't think so, as I never put a tool on them. Second failure, the front pillowball "fell apart".The pillowball is an aluminum disc machined to accept a spherical bearing. The bearing is retained in the disc by a threaded washer. Somehow the retainer backed out, dropping the shock, and the bearing. I Examined the other retainers, no loktite etc. I replaced all with the stock mounts. nicer ride, quiter ride. I would probably by them again due to their great performance and flexibility. Then again I race rotary engines >

I've had my HAs since March. I run the pillowball/camber plates. I know of someone who did not get the upper mounts and his car had issues with being unlevel b/c the stock rubber mounts were worn. He had to keep readjusting it, when uppers would make everything level and to spec. I love mine. Ride quality is great. Put them on 1, put them on 8, almost the exact same ride quality. I run 8/9 on the street and i'm totally fine. My friends have taken an interest and bought Teins after riding in my car,. I say go for it.

BTW, if you're going for track use you might want to order an extra set of springs with one step stiffer all the way around.

Is everyone happy with the springs that come with the shocks or would you suggest changing them to a different spring rate.

The ride is great and the adjustments are fine. I drive with mine at 10 all around on the street everyday. The only time it is too rough is on the freeways here in LA at over 100. other then that no comp[laints at all. By the way I also have the pillow ball uppers.
