Apologies for this post but..

So here I am picking upgraded wheels for my FD RX7 and I don't even own the car yet. But I come from the domestic side of things and curious if you think P275/40 ZR17 all around would be nuts on this car. That is the size that Nitto offers the RII tire which is just amazing. Any ideas? I'm currently digging through the links stickied but was hoping for some quick guidance. Thanks everyone and apologies if this is not the place to post this.

Thanks,

Thefritz1

That would work but it would be a tight fit, even with the right offset wheels. That is the case with the fronts at least. Rears? They should fit pretty easily.

BTW, get the car first then start asking questions.

Yes, and coilovers are a must.

How are coilovers a must?? I would love to know statitically what percentage of people get their car corner weighed and what percentage of poeple just have them for bling factor. Yes, the ability to raise and lower your vehicle with out tire weights is just for bling and we all know it.

Wheelwells are tight on this car and to run really wide tires you have to use coilovers since the 2.5" diameter springs allow more clearance between the spring and the tire than the stockers. I'm not certain if a 275 is enough for this to be a problem but it will depend on the specific tire. I run a 245 up front with lots of negative camber and I can still catch the fender lip on occasion.

I'll be the first to agree with you in that 90% of the people running coilovers don't need them but a wide tire on this car will insist on their use for clearance. God knows how screwed up most people's cars are since they have never been on scales.
