Anyone used D2 coilovers?

I have a '93 FD and my friend can get me some D2 coilovers for ~$750 a set, brand new. There's not a whole lot of info out there about these as opposed to Tein, etc. I know it's a good price as these normally sell for ~$1200-1400...but i just wanted a second opinion first. I already have PFS springs and Tokico non-adjustable shocks (which is a pretty decent setup) and was not planning on upgrading, but with this price and the features this kit has (super lightweight, front camber plates, pillow ball mounts, adjustable everything) and as i plan on doing some track events where i could put these features to good use, i became interested pretty fast. Any feedback?

Thanks.

I think I read before that they were full aluminum mono-tube? I dunno if you wanna run that on the street, unless the street's are super flat, which they arent.

One of my friends got these for his 350z and they wheren't impressive at all, they didn't lower the car like they should, and changing the damping was a joke and made hardly a differance. I couldn't tell you for sure about them on a FD but for the 350z they just didn't show promissing.

um, you don't need camber plates on an FD. you sure these are for FDs?

you'll be fine doing track days on your current setup. ****, you'd be fine doing track days on the stock setup depending on your level of experience.

Well, i put em on today and really like 'em so far. The damping seems pretty good and although the ride height adjustment is tough to do w/o the pillowball they'll go as high as stock or slammed with the tires tucked under. Maybe your friend with the 350z didn't know how to adjust them properly...

There do seem to be too many adjustments. I think having a 6 position **** would do the same, but i just adjust it by turns (6 turns x 6 points = 36 positions). All the way down in pretty jittery and tight, and all the way up is quite smoothe, actually. Makes enough difference that i can tell a difference between one turn or two.

And no camber plates. Not designed with them for this car (not that this car needs them in the first place like many other cars do).

I really bought these because i wanted adjustable suspension. I got em for $800 and it would have cost a bit over $600 just to get koni yellows...so i went for it. So far i'm glad i did and can't wait to get it on the track!

Thanks for all the feedback. Don't worry...i'll remember what you said if something goes awry.

I didn't take any pics, but i probably could next time i go to adjust the ride height.

It came with 11kg/mm (~600lb/in) front and 9kg/mm (~500lb/in) rear springs. I was thinking of stepping down to 10 and 8s, but they didn't have em in stock. I'm actually glad i went with the stiffer ones as, for me, the range between soft and firm is just what i wanted.

I bought them from a friend who is helping Urban Imports (www.urbanimport.com) clear out their inventory. You can find more info on them at www.d2racingsports.com. If you're interested i can hook you up with him. He's also selling them on ebay. If you want some for the FD and feel more comfortable buying them through ebay i can get him to put them up there so you can do it that way. I believe he is selling them for ~$975+shipping (the retail on them is $1616.xx). If you have any questions feel free to PM me about anything.
