anyone running AO32R's on the road?

i keep hearing how noisey they are on the road..is the trade off worth it? My car is getting horrible traction...i cant go wot in 1 or second gear from a roll in addition it is very squirrely around corners.

I run them on one of my Mini's. They arent that noisy, they do hold the road and they dont last long.

They were OK

I had A032R's on my 17" wheels. Thay were good tires as far as traction is concerned, miles ahead of the tires on my stock 16" wheels (Bridgestone RE71's) on the street and autocrossing. Never took the Yoko's to the track though, as I got them used and wore them out through street driving. So, they don't last long but stick well. Oh yeah, they are NOISY, at least in a 275 width.

Due to the noise factor I replaced them recently with Toyo RA-1's (another DOT road race tire) which I plan to use on the street/autocross & track. Much more quiet and seem to have just as good traction.

I personally have never driven on A302R's, but I have heard them. I was passed by a car on them on the highway and they sounded like friggen mudders.

I have them for use on track only.

Yes they can be used on the street, but they have a wear rating of around 50. Don't expect them to last long.

Yes they are quieter than the Yoko A032.

They have a stiffer side wall than a normal street tire, so they won't be as comfortable, but turn-in sharper.

I think they are generally comparable in price to the A032Rs, maybe just a few bucks more per tire?

You really have to CALL a Toyo dealer as I don't know any good online Toyo retailers.

A local (to me) supplier who sells to all the track junkies in the DC metro area is Radial Tire in Silver Spring Maryland, (301) 585-1399. Ask for the guy who handles competition tires.

He sold me 255/40/17s for $175 each a few months ago, the A032Rs are selling on Tire Rack right now in that size for $173.

I had a pair on my car. They were great. Might've been noisy. Couldn't tell over the exhaust however. Excellent in the rain (even through standing water - to a limit of course). Great in the dry. Too short of a life, but what a way to go. When warmed up on a track they were beee-yuu-tiii-fulll.

From my experience the "Mud-digger" droning sound was very present but the grip was fun when the tire was new. The A032's also lasted a LONG time (10-15,000 miles) for a soft compound tire, however because of the large number of heat cycles due to city driving, they became "stale" making my new Toyo T1S stellar in grip in comparison.

Having said that , I may still find myself buying them again one day.

Prepare for a loud stiff tire.

Don't forget about the Bridgestone S-03's which have a great rating as well.

Go to Tirerack.com and rate the AO32R vs. the S-03's.

The A032R sound like mud dawg tires on the interstate! Grip was ok. Kumho Victoracer V700 was MUCH quieter, and MUCH sticker as R-compound road/autocross/track tires go. I bet the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Comps are the best in this category, but none will compare with the bad boy Hoosiers on the short or long road courses (and I ain't sayin' that just cuz I live in Indiana, either!) The downside is that Hoosiers aren't meant to be used on public roads (although I have driven on them on occasion as a last resort)...
