Another "Pick my tire!" thread...
I need tires on my FC, which is currently running stock Convertible wheels at 15x6.5" I'm looking at the following tires at Tire Rack:
Yokohama Avid H4S
Sumitomo HTR H4
Sumitomo HTR 200
In the stock size 205-60R15...
I can't find anything in 215-55R15, and I don't think 225s will fit without spacers.
The Yokohama is also available in the slightly shorter aspect 205-55R15 size which I may look into.
I'm new at autocross, and with the dumpster picked Hankook Optimos in the 195-65R15 on the front (Proper sized Falken Ziex tires on the rear) it understeers all over the place. I pretty much killed every ******* cone on the track.
Any suggestions on a proper tire? I used to work in a tire shop and would judge performance tires by how stiff the sidewall is by pushing on the tire without a wheel in it. Michelin Pilots were nice, but way expensive... I don't want to flat spot some $110 each tires, hence the lower priced selections.

But I ain't driving on R compounds all day long. I need some daily rubber too.

I really like the Sumitomo HTR 200s. I've been abusing these tires for a few years now (on my 3rd set) and they have always performed well. With 215/50/13s on 8" rims I'm beating Miatas on race rubber in autocross. Plus, they're dirt cheap.

Throwing another in the mix @ 205-50R15 - The Kumho Ecsta ASX
Higher treadwear than the Sumitomo HTR 200 and users of TireRack rate it higher... Buuut, we all know how well people rate things on those surveys...

I have those wheels and am on second gen Yoko AVS db. I think these are out of production, but if not snag them. Quiet quiet quiet (I have a vert), and they are very predictable handlers with some warning before you're on the shoulder.
I also got from tire rack, but it's been a couple years.
