Question Advice B4 Purchase on Rays/Volk Racing Daytona Speed

I can get a set of 17x8 & 17x9 Daytonas (no three month wait) for a good price tomorrow. I have no idea how much they weigh, nor if they are forged.

These aren't my 1st choice, Work Meister S1's are but anyhow these offsets on Rays website, don't make any sense to me. Acording to the website, I need +35 front & +18 rear in order to clear the brake calipers.

Thanks Rishie,

The offsets are +35 front & +38 in the rears.
He claims the fronts to weigh 17.5lbs.

I really didn't want to go that skinny but no one has them, there's no wait and they are almost wholesale.

Nah, Fikse just arent worth the price. I don't like that step either. I like a flush deep dish, fat lip. Can these wheels realy retail for $650ea? I think the set I was offered was probably for a 350Z, since the offsets below are the same.

You'll change your mind when see 9.5 x 17 Fikse AROs (with 255/40-17 tires) on mine and Cossie's FD; and 10 x 18 Fikse Profil 13s (with 285/30-18 tires) on 7racer's FD Step? Who cares about the step when you're rolling on Fikses??

Hmm, sometimes a bargain isn't a bargain.
Thanks Rishie, that's just what I was looking at on Toyo's website. Sigh, no Yoko' A032R's in that size.

I know people don't like the step, but I am sure it has some strength advantages versus a wide, straight lip.

Are those Daytonas really forged? I thought they were cast and relatively heavy (not anchors, but nowhere near as light as the forged wheels with numbers in the names; 37 28, etc.).

I don't know for sure if they are forged. Rays never replied to me and I don't know the local distributor for Volk. All the places i've called say they are forged but wheel weights say they are cast. I will have to pick them up tomorrow and guess the weight. It just doesn't seem like much of un upgrade it I don't go wider. Well the rears will be but not the fronts.

Does anyone even like these? You think I could resell them easy in 6mo or a year?

Thanks for the reply's and here is my review.

OK, the fronts have 225/45-17's and I don't beleive 235's would fit unless maybe I used a rounder tire that did not have tread all the way to the edge like Yokohama A032's race tires.

Both front and rear are flush with the body of the car. If I slam the car down I think the fenders lips would need to be rolled.

They look freakin' awsome on the car and i'll post a pic if I can get a dig' cam'. They will probably be up for sale around Sevenstock 6, so I can run 275's front & rear instead.

The wheels look really nice in my opinion. If you are looking for race tires, I believe that Kumho makes a tire, either the V700 or the victoracer (i forgot which) that is 225/45/17 and 255/40/17. Those tires are really good race tires actually so maybe you should look into that

I don't like them personally, but hey, wheels are a subjective purchase
