Accelerate coilovers settling time?
Accelerate coilovers settling time?
Hi,
I installed new coilovers and I go to the alignment shop next week. I set the height of coilovers to be the same at each corners. After a few rides I noticed that the coilovers dropped about a 1/4 inch. So I will have to re-adjust the car height.
Since my alignment is next week, I would like to know if there is a way to accelerate the process of settling the coilovers. Fortune auto told me that they should be settled after 20 miles. I don't really have the time to make 20 miles after each re-adjustment.
Thanks,
Alex

It should just be the initial spring sag, I don't think there will be any need for anything to "settle" between adjustments besides rolling the car after being jacked up.
I have put 4 sets of coilovers (JIC, JIC, Stance/Swift, Ohlins) on my cars and never noticed any spring settling/change in cornerweights/change in spring preload.
BTW, if you can- set your individual coilover heights by cornerweight not by height to fender.

Could there be an impact in my measurements if the concrete floor is not perfectly leveled and I didn't park the car exactly at the same place than the first time I measured.
Not sure if a little slope really makes a difference.
Any reasoably flat concrete pad should be fine for measuring from ground to fender arch.
The most important thing is to roll the car after it has been jacked up to take out the height gained from tire friction resisting compression after suspension droop travel.
