99 specs are 17" but Mazda did make similar wheels for the previous years in 16". Email or PM "herblenny" and ask him. He has connections in "The Land of The Rising Sun"

Those aren't the 99 spec. The lug holes on the 99's aren't lined up on the spokes. That's the way you can tell if they are pre 99 spec or not.

Those are not the 17" size. They came in 16" and 17" sizes, 17" being the 99+ only specs.

The pic of the red car sure does look like it has a '99 front end on it, and the holes line right up with the spokes. But if you look at this picture, the holes do indeed not line up with the spookes.

Maybe the standard model came with 16" and the RZ or RS or whatever has 17"?

OK: So SMG994's picture does not have "99 spec" wheels. The "99 spec" wheels do not have lug nuts that line up with the spokes and the ones in the picture do. The wheels in the picture come in 16 and 17 inch sizes. I beleive the ones in the pic are 17 inch. Could the car in the picture be a Type R Buthrust R (Spelling?) Because that model has the wheels smg994 is looking for. SMG994, i suggest you look for Type R Buthrust R wheels because it looks like there are a variety of post-99 wheels and you want hat particular one.

The red car appears to be a '99 and the blue car is definitely a '99. Personally I would call anything that was available on a 1999 model year car "99 spec." It seems likely that both of these rims probably were available on some kind of '99 RX-7, somewhere.

The guy who runs JT Imports posts on here every once in a while, maybe since he has a couple sets of wheels in stock that are supposedly off a '99 or newer RX-7 someone could send him a PM and ask about the holes lining up with the spokes. I believe his screen name here is jt-imports.

You may be right. I think they still made those 16" wheels after 99.

I'll add something..

First these are not 99's.. most likely an aftermarket rims.. definitely not 17's.. more like 18's..

Look at the spacing on the rims.. i have 17's and lowered.. and it does not look like that..

Far as 99+ rims.. There are 16's 5 spokes.. 17's in 5 spokes.. they are very similar.. but definitely have different look to them..

Also, 99+ RZ came in BBS multi-spoke rims.. Beside those, I believe no other rims were available by Mazda... Wait.. it think I might of seem Mazdaspeed rims.. but besides that, no..

no those are deffinetly made by mazda. I've seen those rims on many jdm cars. go to thise page http://www.jt-imports.com/Mazda_FD_JDM_Parts.htm and look at the 99 spex wheels. thats what is on the car except in 17. i do admit they look alot like 18's, but there no way those can be aftermarket rims. They also made efini wheels in 16 i beleive with lug nuts that lined up with the spokes.

Those listed are 16"... on the 17" the lug holes do not line up with the spokes. I will try to find a pic and show you.

arnt those efini wheels though? Heres something i just noticed. The first pic (the red one that says lighting in a world of thunder) is a red version of this pic. As you can see the wheels have been made larger so that's why they look like 18's. The ones in the blue pic could easily be 16's.

There's really no such thing as "Efini wheels" it's just the badging/centercap. You are correct and here's the mistake I think everyone else is making... don't look at the over-all diameter of the tire, because we all know it is the same rolling diameter of ALL wheels on RX-7s. Look at the tire profile and you will can tell which is the 17" and 16" wheel.

Look at the tire profile on these 2 cars... although the blue car definitely appears to have larger wheels, the tire profile is smaller on the red car... which would mean since the tires are the same diameter, the wheels on the red car are larger...
