5Zigen FN01R-C 17x9 +43

All right, I need some advise on wheels. I'm looking for a 17x9 wheel for all four corners of my FD. There doesn't seem to be many wheels available in a 17x9 with an offset that will fit the FD. The SSR's and Gram Lights are nice but they're outside my budget. The 5Zigen FN01R-C's are a great deal but the +43 offset is pretty tight up front. According to Jimlab's calculator at
https://www.rx7club.com/suspension-wheels-tires-brakes-20/fd-wheel-tire-sizing-416251/
this configuration only leaves 0.19" of front spacing up front. From my searching, it looks like both xchaos and radkins are running this size up front, but I'm not sure if they had to roll the front fenders to do so. See
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...&highlight=lip

So, what's the deal, will these fit up front on a 3rd gen without fender mods? If not I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

the +43 17x9 will fit up front, but like you said it would be close.

check out the racing sparco nt-r's, they are 17x9 +45, and they are very close to the price of the fno1rcs. you can check them out on discounttiredirect.com. it's not everyones style preference tho, they are 5 thin spoked wheels. but with the price, and near perfect offset, they are great. i think someone on the forum is running these wheels with a 255/40 up front, lowered, with no rubbing at all.

the only other wheel i know with this size and offset is the ASA AR1 wheels. you can check them out at tirerack.com. they are only displayed as a rear wheel fitment. but you could just order 4 of them, becuase the 17x9 +45 will fit up front.

i too would like to know what other 17x9 wheels there are that have +45 or better offset that is under 300 a wheel.

If you have a stock suspension, I wouldn't worry about catching the fender lip with 255/40s. If you are lowered with the typical lowering springs, I would try running them first, before rolling the fenders. But let's face it, if you are running wide tires up front on a lowered car, rolling the fenders is good securiity.

I think 5Zigen discontinued the 43mm offset for the FN01R-C's.

That thread seems to indicate more that they stopped making one color in that size....the 17x9 +43 is still on their website yesterday.

sicminded,
Yeah, the sparco nt-r's aren't really my style, thanks anyway. The ASA AR1 wheels are interesting. According to Tirerack the 17x9's are 21.2lbs and the 18x9's are 23.8lbs, not too bad, compared to the 5Zigens which are listed as 19-20lbs on the 5Zigen website. The only thing I don't like about the ASA's are the fake rivets for that "two piece look".
Anyone have any pictures of these on an FD?

rynberg,
My suspension is stock, but I am considering upgrading to Eibach's (with the touring shocks) sometime in the future. Would you consider Eibach's to be typical lowering springs?

From radkins post;
"I just spoke to 5Zigen (they called me!), and the only thing that is officially out of production is the 43mm offset. They did however offer to give me a free 35mm offset (plus me buying one)so I can put the 43's up front and run new 35's in the rear. They were very concerned about making me happy. Will 35mm ofset work in the rear on a 17x9 rim?"
Must be the hyper black?

Yes. But like I said, I would install the wheels and springs and see what happens. You may be just fine with some careful driving -- don't go up steep driveways at an angle quickly, that sort of thing. Then again, you may occasionally catch the fender lip -- every FD is different.

Personally, I think you'll be fine, but you do have to expect the worst -- that you will have to roll your front fender lips.

I found this post by radkins;
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...highlight=17x9
It looks like he was having issues with both racing beat and H&R's even with the fender lips rolled Now I'm thinking it would be best just to save up the cash for a quality set of wheels with the correct offset. CCW's in an 18x9.5 +50 would be nice
