How do I fit these in the back? What size wheels and offset? I will worry about the fenders myself. The tire itself is ~12.5". Will an 10.5-11 inch wheel due? This is for an T2.

I know the aspect ratio is off, but it is the only readily available size. They don't even make 285/35/17 which is the stock tire height.

it all depends on your tire choice. Goodrich Comp T/A drag radials require a 11-12" rim while Hoosiers will work on a 10.5-12" rim. Somitomo HTR Z will work on a 10-12" rim but keep in mind that the sectional width is 12.6 for just about all of them. So in general you'll want a 10.5 and above so that you have leeway if you should chose to go switch tire brands next tim earound. So the answer to your question is yes, a 10.5-11 inch rim will do. In fact most of the manufacturer specs are based off of an 11 inch wide rim. If you plan on running Hoosier R 3S05 you should go with the 11" rim.

hope that helps,
Rob

You are kind of in no-man's land as far as offsets go.

#1) Manufacturer tire specs are not exactly gospel.

#2) Keep in mind that rim widths are actually wider than advertised. example: My 8jj rim is actually 8.875" wide. The 8" is measured from the inside portions of the beads in this case.

I'm assuming that you have aftermarket coilovers and arms

incase you want to check tire sizes: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
