I have some freshly bead blasted GSL-SE brake hardware and would like to protect it from returning to the rusty state it was before. Painting the hardware in primary colors is not the look I'm going for. I have some Diamond Finish Clear from KBS that they list brake calipers as a suggested use. My concern is the 300 degree rating. Some brake paints have double the rating, but again... My RX7 will most likely never see track time.

Any thoughts?

 

 

Fahrenheit, and I was thinking the same thing also. If we step back and remember that my car's brakes will never see hard track time I'm not sure what temps I'll reach. According to members of other automotive websites, daily driving won't get you much past 250 degrees. I have already painted a rear caliper bracket in the clear. Very impressed. maybe I'll throw it on the gas grill to give it a heat stress test.

 

 

The paint did yellow and darken past 500 degrees. As I do not expect to submit my brake hardware to 500-700 degrees for a half hour. I think I'll be fine. the coating did not blister but did darken. Going to bead blast the part again and re-coat.
