225/50/15 on convertible bbs rims

i've heard multiple people mention using 225/50/15 on the convertible bbs rims, is this correct? i'm currently on stock suspension.

Yes it's correct, but you run the risk of rubbing on the springs, and the speedo will be off due to the shorter tire, so it'll read faster than you're going.

225 over 205 isnt a huge difference. i know its not your question, but id just stick to 205 or maybe 215's. plus 205's have a larger market and more choices. you wont miss that 1/2'' that the 225 will have over 205. PLUS, Im not sure on the specs of the BBS Vert rims, but if they are 7'' width, 225 will be right on the verge of being too wide, and you will start seeing extra sidewall flex, because the tread width will be as wide or wider than the rim width. just my $.02, hope it helps a little. But if your dead set on 225, as long as it doesnt rub (not sure, I have no vert experiance) you should be ok, just no larger than that

I have a 90 vert with stock BBS wheels. I went with the 225/50r15 Khumo ecsta. The Khumo's normally are slightly narrower and taller than other brands compared to the same size and the 225's fit perfectly and look great. The price is usually great ( I buy from Tire Rack ). I've used Khumo's on several cars From my highly modified 69 Mustang convertible to my beater subaru wagon (and RX7's) and have been very happy with the performance and wear.

FWIW..I put on 205/60/15's on the BBS Vert Wheels,On my FC...I went with this because of the Roads.Around here they are a Bit Rough,so I figure the extra Bit of Rubber and Air Cushion will allow the Car to Tolerate the Terrain!..Going to Upgrade in the future though to 17's and I will just be more carefull!..

Ok, swapping hubs and brakes doesn't make the speedo off, changing the rear end gear, changing the tire diameter or changing the speedo gear will cause a speedo error.

The 225/50/15 isn't ideal on a 15"x6.5" BBS vert wheel, but it'll work. You will loose some turn in feel, but it'll be better than stock due to being shorter, whether or not these two cancel each other out or what wins out I don't know. You will get more grip from the wider tire though, so for that reason it's better than a 205, plus it looks better.

You may rub, but probably not, if so it'll be on the springs or shocks.

i have 225/50/15 on my BBS. They are on a S5 GTU with Racing Beat Springs, and AGX struts. No problems, with rubbing or anything and they look nicer and handle better when they are wider

Do you happen to have any pictures of how the tires sit on the wheel?

how about 225 / 55 ? , would they fit without rubbing ..... I see that yokohama has those and that gives a 123.75 height vs the 123 for the 205 / 60's that I have on all fours now .

205 / 60's on the front and 225 /55's on the back .... that sounds nice .
