Its a coat that they put over the final clear coat. The clear coating would run about $1400 for a good one I think. Some shops, like Maaco, will do it especially well if you tell them too. I personally cant do the wetsand and that was the quote I got from a local bodyshop. It may have been $600. So, $1400 or $600. haha. I dont remember.

 

There aren't any nice model dubs. All of them are chrome or nasty three to five spoke. Maybe if they have silver and polished lip then maybe it would look good.

 

It has been done- guy from my club, used on the street. Not very comfy and a bit of scrapeage on the front but still, doesn't look that bad!!

You will be "rollin on 20's" for about a week.....

...then you will be rolling on 20's, 15's, 18's, 17's at the same time with all the bends you will get running something like that. I know a guy that put 19's on his FD and in a couple weeks they all had bends and he babied that car wherever he drove. He has since sold them and gone to 18's since no bending problems with that size. I know 20's may look cool, but they really arent practical for the street unless you live in a place where ALL ROADS are prefectly smooth with no potholes. And if thats true, where do you live? Im moving!

 

Well, even though I like to be different and do things not too many others have done, looking at that pic, obviously 20's are not happening on the front. The back looks OK, but that's definitely too much wheel for the front.

As for bending, those wheels look BEEFY; it would be hard to bend them. Those things probably weigh a ton.

For just looks: I think if someone really wants to get the max size, the best trade-off would be to get 18's in the front and 19's in the back, like the Acura NSX does.

For looks and performance: 18's all the way around.

For just performance: 17's all the way around.

18s are as large as I'd go. Max Cooper fitment's the sh*t if you have 2.5-inch springs Of course my 17 inch sleeper fitment's been proven to perform well without rubbing with stock style springs. That's about it really

 

if your wanting 20 inch rims, buy a SUV and spend the bling on that. The red car, IMO, looks like its about to go offroad, and probably do a better job than most SUVs would.
you can only lower it so much do to suspension travel and the car still looks like its up on air bags.

No, I think there are only a few FD enthusiasts that like 19/20-inch wheels. Those FDs are probably show queens, or are FDs that don't get driven in a practical sense...

 

I think Manny is going to one day show up at FATT with 20's on the car and still turn faster times than me.

I would just put 17s or 18s on it.. 19s are pushing it even for the 'bling' factor... but 20's are too much for the size of the car IMO.
