2.5 inch coil springs on stock spring seat?
I just bought 18's and want them to fit and also need to lower the car to get rid of the wheel gap. After dropping almost 4 grand in wheels and tires I want them to fit without spending alot more. runnign 285/30/18 in Back and 255/35/18 in front. Stock FD touring suspension. If those tires sizes will fit I will just get Racing beat or Ehbach lowing springs. Or will 2.5 inch coil springs fit on the stock spring seat? If so what brands? Wheels are TE-37's and +40 offfsets. I have seen many different combos and some seem to fit with Coilovers but no one has definatively said those combos on a stock susp will fit. Any input would be fine. I hate to spend 250 on springs and find out I need coilovers to fit the wheel/tires.

You can't fit those tire sizes on Volks UNLESS you have 9 x 18s up front and 10 x 18s in back. If you DO have 8.5 and 9.5 x 18s, there's no way you can PROPERLY fit those tire sizes on rim widths narrower than 9s and 10s (fr/rr, respectively).
I gather your wheels are the standard Volk, FD Rx7 fitment (8.5 fr, 9.5 rr x 18) based on the 40-mm offset you posted. If the Volks ARE wider, then the offsets would be like 45 to 48-mm up front (for a 9 x 18) and 50 to 52-mm in back (for a 10 x 18).
Assuming proper FD Rx7 wheel/tire matching, and proper FD Rx7 offsets for the front and rear wheel/tire positions, you will NOT need 2.5-inch coil springs for the rears, because the 18-inch wheel diameters buy you enough clearance from the stock rear trailing arms. You will NOT need 2.5-inch coil springs up front either IF the wheel offset is correct.
FWIW, you cannot use 2.5-inch coil springs to mate with the stock spring perches. You MUST buy a 2.5-inch coil spring conversion kit, as sold by M2 Performance...
Max Cooper can give more details on that M2 product, as he has those spring kits on this FD, along with 285/30-18 BFG R1s on 10 x 18 CCW mesh wheels all the way around as his track setup...

Yeah I pushed the tire size just a hair over the limit. No 10 inch wide wheel in TE-37's in 18 dia. But I wanted to keep the over dia. close to stock. thats why I chose those tire sizes.
