18x9's all around

i have found some great wheels that are relatively cheap, and i'm wanting to get them in 18x9 all around for my FD. the problem is that the only offsets they come in are +15 and +45. 15 seemingly too shallow and 45 seemingly being too deep...

anyone know if i could get away with either of these offsets? maybe +45 in the front and +15 in the back? also, i'm wanting to run 245/40's on them

You could probably do the +38 in the rear, but I wouldn't try anything other than the +45 in the front. FWIW, the stock wheels are +50.

The 18x9 +45 all around should be a great fitment. 245/40r18 is way too tall IMO, I would run a 255/35r18 or 245/35r18. You dont have many tire choices with the 245/35 though.

Way too tall? a 245/40/18 is only .7 inches taller than a 255/35.

I think .7" is a big deal, especially when talking front fitments on an FD, with wider wheels with a lower offset than stock. A 245/35 is almost identical height to a stock 225/50r16, with 255/35 only being slightly taller.

i'd like it as close to stock height as possible... but ****, 245/35 sidewall is tiny... does anybody have any pictures of that tire size on an 18?

I had 265/35r18s on all 4 on my old 18x9.5 +50 SSR wheels, with no issues, and the sidewall height wasnt too bad. Here is a pic of that. The sidewall on a 255/35 wont be too different. According to the tire calculator a 255/35r18 has a sidewall of 3.5", while a 245/35r18 has one of 3.4", so shouldnt be that big of a deal. The 265s in the picture below should be ~3.7" Our stock 225/50r16s have an overall diameter of 24.9". A 245/35 is right about that at 24.8", and a 255/35 is just above it at 25.0. The 265s I was running were a bit taller at 25.3", while a 245/40 would be close to a full inch taller than stock at 25.7"

that 35 sidewall doesnt look as small as i thought it would... 255/35/18. now the question is will it fit all the way around with +45 in the front and +38 in the rear

It should fit no problems. I know why you are thinking the +38 for the rear, to push it out slightly and fill in the fender, but also consider getting +45 all around, being able to rotate if need be is nice.

Also, if I may suggest another wheel, look into the 5zigen Pro Racer GN+. Ive even been thinking of picking up a set of these for my FD when I dont feel like running my CCWs. I foget the exact pricing, but I dont think its far off from those MB wheels, and I bet they are far lighter and better quality (although I dont have the specs on the MBs). You can get them in 18x9.5 rears and 18x8.5 fronts.

+1... its not like 7mm is going to make a big difference lookswise.

if you did want to push out the rears a tiny little bit, you could always get a pair of small spacers. that way you retain the ability to rotate your wheels.

well, i'm planning on keeping the stock wheels for autox and any other type of racing, so yeah, i'd like to fill in the fenders as much as possible and try to make it look good.

those cost a little too much for me. they do look good, but those MB's are way cheaper. my goal is to spend under 1200 bucks with some DECENT tires like kumho ecsta MX or the like.
i REALLY just need to get some CCW's like you got. unfortunately i'm not made of money

The Kumho MXs are a good tire. And Im not made of money, just fortunate to work somewhere that allows as much overtime as I want. 60+ hour weeks pays for my obsession Good luck with whatever you decide, and give rishie at autornd a call or email to see what he can do for you price-wise about those 5zigens or any other wheel. He has hooked me up big time in the past.

245 is too small on a 9" wide wheel. Its going to look stretched, and thus... ghey.

You should start looking at 255-275 wide for a 9" wide wheel. Come look at my 18X9 w/ 275/35/18 on it. I highly doubt you'd argue it doesnt look 'right'. (not stretched, not forced on)

we determined on the previous page that 255/35/18 will work just fine.

dude, 235 doesn't really even look stretched on a 9. there's no way 245 will. 245 is perfect for a 'normal' fitting tire on a 9.

MB weapons are good wheels. fairly light, and I've given mine a LOT of abuse and they are holding up fine.

17x9 weapons are roughly 21-22 lbs.

not light at all, but the weight isn't bad considering how much you're paying for them.

I don't really have any good pictures though... I had a couple decent ones of them on all 4, and they got erased or something... I dunno what happened to them...

exactly. they're lighter than anything else in their price range...

my 17x9's even felt lighter to me than 5zigen GN+ in 17x8.5.
